Deuchar, brings a unique blend of 'pracademic' expertise that enables companies, organisations and service providers to reflect on current practice and engage in research-informed transformation and growth. Drawing on unique and extensive collaborations with partners from business, academia and the wider public sector, Deuchar Consultancy provides a service that offers the following:
- Applied research* on a range of contemporary issues of relevance
and importance to business and public service practitioners.
- Evaluation of frontline projects, initiatives and innovations, with the
provision of mid- and full-term reports, in addition to attendance at
steering group meetings etc.
- Provision of expert court witness testimonies for both Crown and
Prosecution, producing relevant reports and engaging in court
attendance if required.
- Consultancy, advice and training to staff and/or target
groups/populations.
*The areas of applied research can be broken into three broad areas:
- Criminal justice, with a particular focus on agencies of law enforcement,
court and prosecution services and the Scottish Prison Service.
- Social services, including social work and probation services
- Education, with a focus on secondary, Higher and Further `Education.

Professor Ross Deuchar, PhD, MSc, B.Ed [Hons]:
Ross is a highly experienced practitioner, academic researcher, former Fulbright Scholar and award-winning author of 8 books and numerous academic publications and reports. With a background in education, he has conducted research focused on education for citizenship in schools, young people's involvement in street gangs and drug distribution networks, organised crime networks, drug use and mental health issues in prisons and effective interventions for violence reduction and prevention as well as policing and police-community relations from an international perspective. His international profile has led to numerous opportunities to conduct research and evaluation, and to present keynotes in locations as far and wide as the United States, Denmark, Finland and Hong Kong. In 2021, his co-authored book, 'Police-Community Relations in Times of Crisis' [Bristol University Press) won the American Society of Criminology [Division of Police] outstanding book award. Aside from his work as a researcher, Ross is also a certified Personal Trainer, Professional Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, Life Coach and Mindfulness Teacher. Within his other business [Ross Deuchar Coaching] he works with a wide range of clients, supporting them with both their physical and mental health. He is also an amateur bodybuilder and, at the age of 55, he recently achieved 4 top 3 places in Scottish bodybuilding competitions plus a top 6 placing in the British finals within the 'Master's Men's Physique' category.
