Wow, what a couple of busy weekends! 😅
Last weekend, we took Rocky to do ‘Search for a Star’ again at Hartpury for the working pony class. He was incredibly well behaved and was a true professional being put in a situation he isn’t used to, cantering around a ring with 15 other horses and he was perfect! Being pulled in with 2nd place 🥈🏵️ being joint highest placed for ‘style’ and highest marked pony for conformation, just our first jump let us down slightly meaning we were only ONE point off our HOYS ticket 😅 I truly feel he deserved it but that’s showing for you unfortunately! Overall absolutely over the moon with him 😍 from show pony last week.. to event pony this week!
Back to our roots this weekend at Hazleton Manor for the The Cotswold Cup 10 months since our last event and he was unreal!! Did the most beautiful test, just a crooked halt but delivering a fabulous score of 24.5 🤩 I just love riding him in this phase!!
Showjumping was a bit scrappy, first course on grass since June last year and a big rider error meaning we had a pole, so time to sharpen us back up in this phase 😈
And out onto the XC where he was pretty faultless throughout, we had fun, blew away the cobwebs and can home clear and 1 second within the time 🥳 finishing with 2nd place again for this absolute legend 🥹🥈🏵️ what an incredible versatile pony!!!
Back to Hazleton Manor again today but with the ride of Harry for his owner Daisy Parr.. today was all about confidence! Harry has been tricky the past couple of seasons, the stage fright and lacking in confidence has been a major factor for him, in the showjumping but especially XC meaning Daisy had asked me to give it a bash and to see what I could get out of him today before going back to the drawing board. WELL… he did a brilliant test of 31.5, so happy with him in this phase as he’s never found it easy but it’s all coming together 🤩
Onto SJ where I did really have to ride for it and hold his hand, he listened, grew in confidence and we completed with a clear round 🥳
XC.. we left the start box and his ears were pricked. I felt the confidence he grew throughout the SJ, he most certainly carried on through to the XC and we set off as a ‘team’, absolutely flying round and enjoying every minute, 2 sticky jumps but we finished CLEAR and within the time, even without wearing my watch, as being competitive was absolutely not what today was about. We managed to finish 5th and in the ribbons finishing on our dressage score out of 31 in the section 😍🥳 absolutely thrilled to be able to give this result to Daisy, very proud of little Harry, so a bloody great weekend once again!!
