We recently completed one of the more complex jobs we've taken on to date - offloading and installing 7 digestive tanks on-site at Haworth Scouring for our client, Fre-energy.
Each tank was 13 metres long and 4.2 metres wide, and the route in wasn't big enough for them. Roller shutter doors, stonework, an exhaust stack, drainage, basements and overhead cables all had to be worked around, and the tanks needed turning 90 degrees, laid flat, through gaps with only millimetres to spare.
It took two site visits to get the plan right - we took up the drone first to understand the area and where the challenges would lie. Once the groundworks were complete, we took laser and tape measurements for exact clearances. We modelled every lift to scale in Kran Expert beforehand, with a full SSOW and risk assessment signed off before any tank moved.
Three of our own forklifts, all running jib attachments, worked in tandem with a mobile crane, supplied by one of our trusted and regular suppliers Steve Foster Cranes, walking each tank through the site and around the exhaust stack. The same process was repeated 7 times across two visits.
