Our team recently carried out Radiographic Inspection (RT) on the welds of six 4,800L stainless steel vessels for a client.

Behind every weld inspection is a careful process. The radiation source and film cassette are positioned, an image quality indicator is placed to verify sensitivity, and the correct exposure is calculated before the team steps back to let the radiation do the work.

Once exposed, the film is processed and interpreted to identify any discontinuities hidden beneath the surface. Every stage is carried out with precision because when it comes to safety and quality, there are no shortcuts.

Keeping venues safe behind the scenes.

Our engineers recently carried out scheduled statutory inspections of lighting and sound rigs, along with all associated lifting equipment, at a major UK events venue.

From theatres and arenas to entertainment venues and public spaces, regular inspections play a vital role in ensuring lifting equipment remains safe, compliant and ready to perform when it’s needed most.

At WH Scott, our highly trained engineers carry out statutory examinations in accordance with LOLER, PUWER and the Work at Height Regulations. Every inspection is supported by detailed reporting, compliant certification and practical recommendations, helping customers maintain compliance while improving the safety and reliability of their equipment.

With over 400,000 statutory examinations completed each year across the UK and Ireland, alongside our online asset management portal and instant digital reporting, we help organisations manage their lifting equipment with confidence.

What does a day in the life of a Re-Ropes Lift Engineer look like?
For Mario Ruggeri, it recently meant spending 15 days onboard a cruise ship, replacing 14,000 metres of lift rope across 16 passenger elevators while crossing the Atlantic.
Projects like this demand more than technical expertise. They require careful planning, adaptability and a commitment to safety in an environment that’s constantly changing.
Follow Mario‘s journey to see how the team prepared, overcame the challenges and successfully completed the project.

RHC Lifting’s newest venture is now complete – the first gantry crane on the moon! 🌕

This state-of-the-art gantry uses bespoke anti-gravity technology, zero-atmosphere load stabilisation, and a patented lunar anchoring system to ensure safe, precise lifting in even the most challenging conditions.

Engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, meteor showers, and the occasional curious astronaut, this installation sets a new benchmark for off-world lifting solutions.

Quote from the Man on the Moon:
“Thrilled with RHC’s work, this upgrade really takes the moon to new heights… and significantly improves our cheese-handling capabilities.”

This innovative project is just another example of the out-of-this-world capabilities RHC now delivers as part of the WH Scott Group.

Full handover of the gantry has now been completed, and it is officially up and running – ready for all lunar lifting operations.
