Did you know that as well as supporting local good causes, the Rotary Club of Gourock is a very small part of an incredible global sucess story. Our club also supports Rotary’s own charity, Rotary Foundation and several members donate monthly too. These gifts empower Rotary members to carry out sustainable projects that improve people’s health, expand access to education, protect the environment, alleviate poverty and promote peace around the globe.
Last year some 350 million children in 28 countries worldwide received oral polio vaccines through partnerships with the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This ongoing work has helped reduce global polio cases by 99.9% since 1985.
In addition, 1804 global grants, 463 district grants and 61 disaster response grants were also awarded and our newest Rotary Peace Centre at Symbiosis International University was opened last year.
