Hi everyone, just checking to see if there is any need for an on-line (NOT AI but with a human!) business workshop to help businesses make more of their business.

Why? To say things are difficult would be the understatement of the year and businesses need to be empowered to help themselves, make the best of what they can!

For the last few years I have delivered the help to grow program for local universities where I felt there was always a group of business owners ignored, under valued and it is those businesses with less than 5 employees, those not trading for at least 3 years or even those just thinking of starting a business.

I am an experienced business advisor (25 years +) and have put together a series of workshops aimed to help innovate, be interactive, intuitive, jargon light and build confidence.

Contact me if this could be of interest. It would be a paid for program but I am totally aware of the difficult times so will not be stupid with the costs.

Your opinions would be highly valued.

Thank you.

Ever wondered how you have got to where you are? Ever wondered why your business has not achieved what you expected?

It helps to start to look at the reason you started your business, your starting point, from my experience there are 4, simplified, categories, each listed below.

So what was the main reason behind you starting your business?

H
The Hobbyist, this was a business that started as a hobby, just part time, worked on it when you had some spare time, something you are passionate about, it is not all about the money, it is about what you do, your passion and how it makes you feel.

J
The Jobist, this business was started as a means to an end, started because you had personal commitments that needed to be met and as long as they were met, all is good, not really about profit, more about making ends meet, possibly because of redundancy. (Ever wondered what J.O.B. stands for, Just Over Broke)

O
The Opportunist, this is about seeing an opportunity and going for it, probably worked on this opportunity while still working in a job so when the job was left the business was already running, a very fast and pressurised environment, you had no spare time and may find clients not paying as it was about seizing the opportunity, very goal oriented, speed important as worried about competition.

E
The Entrepreneurist, here it is about not only sizing the opportunity but also what are the next steps, taking the longer view, knowing that progress needs to be steady, relationships are to be built, knowing that Rome was not built in a day, knowing that you need others to help your business succeed.

It does not matter about the reasons behind you starting your business, each has their benefits, motivations and weaknesses, I have witnessed happy successful business owners in each profile, so not everything has to be perfect but what does matter is are you happy with what you have achieved.

Be proud of yourself for getting to where you have got to now, as it is the now that we live in.

Really proud to say I have just finished facilitating Cohort 12, of the Help to Grow:Management program for a local University, through the 12 modules of the program, over the last 12 weeks with this final session at the Innovation Centre, brilliant facilities and a brilliant group of people, we had some great debates and all our lives are richer for coming together.

I have had the privilege of facilitating all the previous cohorts, since the programs inception, supporting nearly 200 people running diverse businesses through new concepts and ideas with the aim of those people becoming stronger, being more confident and feeling empowered to make the right decisions for them.

It is only when you get into some deep conversations that you suddenly realise that all my years of diverse experience, successes, challenges, stress, worry, sleepless nights, toil and life events has paid off through the guidance and reassurance I can give.

Thanks to Joanne Muturi for being brave enough to have a selfie with me.

Me time for 60 Minutes

Recently I was asked this question and I have to say for me it was easy, midday, French bistro, outside, early June having a nice lunch watching the world go by.

How about you?

We all are working hard with loads of responsibilities, loads of people wanting a piece of us, mobile phone stuck to our ear/finger and sometimes we just need some space, not to think about anything, just be.

Have a go, describe it, be specific.

Rules are simple, 60 minutes, only you and there are no other limits, no if, buts or maybe, no should've, could've or would’ve.

Free your thinking😀
