Why is PAT testing important?

This damaged plug was found on an extension reel powering a pressure washer. The staff using it had no idea how close they were to a potential electric shock or fire risk.

Regular PAT testing and electrical equipment inspections help identify faults like this before they become dangerous.

A simple maintenance regime can prevent accidents and keep staff safe.

Commissioning 20 Fire Extinguishers to BS5306.
Regular customer requirements are 2kg and 4kg powders specifically for their rigs. Heavy plant machines have hazards such as high pressure hydraulic oil, diesel and electrical. Through their Fire Risk Assessment, Powder was determined to be the most suitable and cost effective solution to help prevent small fires grow out of hand.

PAT - If you use floor sockets, please make sure you use the cable relief tabs to prevent this from happening.
Squashing the cable like this could cause arcing, arcing causes heat, heat causes fires. Or if it's chewed through, it could cause electric shock.
