Back in January when these two projects started at Park Royal and Crawley I was a project manager, both sites were going well up to mid March when they both had to be stopped for lockdown.
This week as Grant Burrows Project Management Ltd I am at handovers representing wagamama maintenance team.
Both sites look beautiful and will open next week. Great work Rockshaw Meridian Design and Build Limited

GBPM are really pleased to be supporting wagamama and their facilities management team as they bounce back after lockdown and continue to transform their beautiful restaurants. Wembley refurbishment started back in January and is now complete having been extended and now offering 253 covers (+125). It reopens on Monday 28th Sept.

Think back to 2012, Coffee Pod machines were relatively unknown and Nespresso had a small boutique in London. I opened their first shopping centre site at Trafford Centre when working for . We then opened Brompton Road, Regent Street and Edinburgh in quick succession. 8 years later and they are in most large shopping centres.
The fitouts were very detailed with a great deal of coordination required between us providing the white box and the the Italian shopfitters installing the high end furniture and fixtures.

Maximising covers in a small restaurant is always a challenge. Not so sure this would work and be practical in our health & safety led world but food for thought

The majority of my projects have been within the retail or hospitality sectors so I thought I would share this one with you. Working for Powells Ltd with architect Kevin Thornton The Implant Centre is an award winning practice in Hove. The building had formally been an old antiques shop and required major structural alterations before the fit out could commence.
The design called for the construction of 4 consulting room pods with natural lighting from rooflights above, recessed floor lighting, bespoke oak staircase and a glass entrance lobby.
Careful coordination with the clients specialist supplier of dental equipment and furniture was also crucial to the success.

Porsche Design Brompton Road London

This was an complex fit out for luxury brand Porsche Design Working for Limited I delivered this store over a shortened 12 week programme due to the landlord shell being handed back later than planned while maintaining the clients launch date.
Basement, Ground, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors were retail space with Welfare and BOH on the 4th floor all linked by various staircases and a customer lift.

As you would expect access and unloading was limited and noise restrictions were in place due to the residential properties at the rear.

Finishes included resin floor, blackened oak herringbone timber floor and luxury carpets as well as some seriously large blackened backed mirrors.

A great deal of coordination was required between contractors and design team.

Looking back through photos I realise how varied and diverse some of the projects I have been involved with have been. I have great memories of working with White Stuff and opening new sites in Birmingham, Bournemouth and Nottingham. A really exciting blend of reclaimed and new materials brought together to create an aged retro look. I specifically remember the Fitting Rooms at Nottingham where a terraced street effect was created.
