Reception and Year 2 š«¶š» No more babies at home!
No more mums groups, mid-week coffees, park trips or days outā¦.
What a 6 years weāve had! Iāve been so lucky to work flexibly whilst Lola and Harrison were young.
I didnāt work for a while after finishing maternity leave with Harrison, however by the time he was 15 months in 2019, I was itching to do something.
I joined Hartbeeps as one of their Class Leaders (Imaginator) and led baby and toddler classes across Northamptonshire, then joined the MK branch when we moved house. I hadnāt done anything like this before, but always loved singing, so it really took me out of my comfort zone.
Fast forward to the end of 2021, Lola was coming up 2. I saw an advert on LinkedIn for a Careers Coach. Iād worked on employability projects earlier in my career (2011- 2013) before moving into HR/Training and had achieved my level 3 qualification.
I thought, do you know what, I can do that role. Itās 100% remote which is a godsend.
I was so nervous speaking to my first client (with mum brain, I thought can I actually remember how to do this?!)
But slowly and surely I built up my confidenceā¦
This role has been and is amazing alongside a young family. I can flex my hours, sometimes working in the evening or weekend if I have to, but it means Iāve had quality time with Lola, enjoying days off with her and if the children are poorly etc, I can change my hours.
Iām now studying towards Level 6 Careers Guidance (yes a Degree!) which has been a struggle for most of this year, but now with Lola in Reception, itāll free up some time for me to focus on it.
So for the moment, Iām not increasing my workload (though the temptation is there to earn a bit more money!) Iām going to try and enjoy the freedom and crack on with my qualification, which has been a major struggle this year.
