The customer’s old Baxi Combi Boiler had been in service for many years, so instead of continuing with repairs, they decided to replace it with a brand-new Baxi 400 Combi Boiler.

This installation included:

🚨 What Can Go Wrong with a Boiler?

We recently attended a particularly challenging boiler fault.

The boiler was suffering from multiple issues at the same time:

🔹 Circulation pump failure
🔹 Ignition system fault
🔹 Display PCB failure
🔹 Intermittent operation – sometimes it worked, sometimes it became completely unresponsive

After carrying out systematic testing and fault diagnosis, we identified and resolved each issue, restoring the boiler to full working order.

💡 Many boiler breakdowns are not caused by just one faulty component.

When one electronic part fails, it can affect the power supply, control signals or communication between different modules. Over time, this can place additional stress on other components, leading to multiple faults developing one after another.

🔥 No hot water from your cylinder?

This customer’s home had a boiler + hot water cylinder system and suddenly had no hot water at all.

After attending the property and carrying out checks, we confirmed that the boiler itself was operating correctly, but the 3-port motorised valve had failed. It was no longer controlling the hot water flow correctly, meaning hot water could not be diverted to the hot water cylinder for heating, leaving the cylinder completely cold.

After replacing the faulty 3-port motorised valve with a brand new one, we fully tested both the heating and hot water systems. Everything is now working correctly, and the hot water supply has been restored. ✅

This customer moved into their new home and within a month, the boiler started having problems.

After inspection, we found the pump had already worn out and needed replacing. We later discovered the ignition/flame sensor electrode was also badly oxidised and burnt.

After fitting new parts and carrying out safety checks, the boiler was back up and running. ✅

Another boiler failure case.

This boiler had a severely restricted Heat Exchanger due to heavy build-up, and the unit was also reaching the end of its service life. After assessment, replacing the boiler was the most cost-effective option.

Many customers think:
“If the boiler is still running and there is hot water, everything must be fine.”

Not always.

Boilers need regular servicing to ensure they are safe and operating correctly. As a boiler gets older, a full strip & clean may also be recommended when required.
