One of the unexpected things about building a community is hearing how other people see you.
This week, during a planning meeting for Women in Business, the conversation drifted away from events, marketing and logistics and became something much more personal.
Two women I admire spoke about the impact I’d had on them.
Not my business.
Not my social media.
Not my qualifications.
Me.
They talked about how I’d helped them find confidence, feel more grounded, reconnect with themselves and step back into opportunities they may have otherwise avoided.
Honestly, it caught me off guard.
Like many people, I’m often focused on what I haven’t done yet, where I could improve, or whether I’m doing enough. I rarely stop and think about the effect I might be having on others.
It reminded me that success isn’t always measured in sales, followers, awards or revenue.
Sometimes success is being the person who makes someone feel seen.
The person who encourages someone to take a chance.
The person who helps someone believe in themselves again.
Women in Business was never created to be just another networking event.
It was created to build connections, create opportunities and remind people that they don’t have to do everything alone.
If that’s what we’re achieving, even in a small way, then we’re heading in the right direction.
And for that, I’m incredibly grateful.
