🔧 Washing Machine Door Seal Replacement Today

The customer thought the brown film around the old door seal was actually part of the gasket… until I showed him what a brand-new seal looks like! 😬😂

That brown layer was actually a build-up of detergent residue, fabric softener, dirt and general washing machine grime over time.

Out with the old ➡️ in with the new ✨

A good reminder to regularly wipe around and inside the door seal, leave the door slightly open between washes and run an occasional hot maintenance/drum-clean cycle.

It’s amazing what can build up in places you don’t normally see! 👀

👀 A little sneak peek at what we’ve been up to this week…

What a week! 💪🔧

This week myself and Ben have been working on something a little different — and definitely one of the biggest and most impressive installation projects I’ve been involved with.

We were contacted by the builder of this incredible property and, despite being given very little notice to get everything organised and fitted into the diary, it was simply too good an opportunity to turn down.

Around 25+ high-end appliances, including Gaggenau, Miele and NEFF, with everything from huge commercial-sized refrigeration through to luxury Gaggenau ovens, warming drawers, induction cooking, extraction, dishwashers, laundry appliances, w**e cooling and more.

And we managed to complete the majority of the installation work in just four days. 👏

It certainly wasn't without its challenges! We’ve been working alongside carpenters, electricians, plumbers, project planners and other professionals on site, with different parts of the property and cabinetry being completed around us as the week progressed.

For me personally, this is something I'm genuinely proud of.

A project of this size and specification isn't something I'd taken on before, but sometimes an opportunity comes along where you've just got to back yourself, get stuck in and make it happen.

A massive thank you to Ben from GB Appliance Care for working alongside me throughout the project. Between us we've put in some serious hours this week!

There are still a few finishing touches and outstanding items to complete once the remaining site works are ready, but the progress made in four days has been incredible.

🚦 TRAFFIC CHAOS! 🚦

As many of you will already know, the current road closures and heavy congestion around the Benfleet area are causing significant delays.

Another integrated washing machine brought back to life! 👌

This integrated washing machine started out with a small leak, but as is often the case, it gradually became worse over time.

After inspecting the machine, I found the detergent dispenser fill hose had split and was allowing water to escape.

While carrying out the repair, the customer also mentioned that the programmes were stopping at random and the machine often wasn't completing the final drain and spin.

Further investigation revealed the heating element had failed and was open circuit, with a heavy build-up of limescale evident on the old element.

Although the motor carbon brushes still had some life left in them, they were showing signs of wear, so I recommended replacing them while the machine was apart to help prolong its life.

To finish things off, the customer opted for a brand new door seal to freshen the machine up even further. Although this required a return visit once the part arrived, the transformation was well worth it.

The customer couldn't believe how much newer the machine felt after a bit of TLC! 😊

A replacement integrated washing machine, supplied and installed, would typically cost £400–£600 or more.

This repair came in at a fraction of that cost, extending the life of the appliance and saving the customer money.

Don't ignore small leaks or minor faults—they rarely fix themselves and often lead to bigger problems over time.
