A fresh new look for this kitchen! 👏

Today we replaced an old Stoves cooker hood that was beyond economical repair. The customer wanted a newer model that would still look right alongside their Stoves cooker, so we sourced a similar style and got it fitted.

A few small modifications were needed along the way, but everything was completed to a high standard. Swipe through to see the before, during and after photos!

Late finish today, busy start to the week 😬

So I took the opportunity to take these stunning pictures of tonight's sunset in Chalkwell. An hour apart ,from arriving to finishing job.

“What you can’t see won’t hurt… right? 👀😂”

This is a heating element I removed from an AEG washing machine this week.

It sits hidden away at the bottom of the drum, so you’d never normally know it looked like this. 😬

Years of heating water, detergent residue and limescale have certainly taken their toll on this one!

The machine had developed a fault and, once stripped down and investigated, this was what was hiding inside.

Sometimes it’s what you CAN’T see that causes the problems! 🔧⚡

Another repair completed and another appliance kept going rather than unnecessarily being replaced.

♻️ Giving quality appliances a second life!

A regular customer of mine is currently having a brand-new kitchen fitted, complete with new appliances.

Rather than disposing of her existing NEFF oven and combination oven, which were both still perfectly serviceable, she decided to donate them to her daughter to upgrade her older Siemens appliances. 👌

I removed both NEFF appliances from the original property, safely transported them over and installed them into her daughter’s kitchen.

As part of the installation, I also carried out the necessary electrical safety checks, checking the existing supply, protection and consumer unit to make sure the appliances were suitable and compatible with the current electrical installation before connecting and testing everything. ⚡️🔧

The result — two quality appliances saved from unnecessary disposal and a nice upgrade for her daughter’s kitchen! 🙌

🔧 NOT YOUR AVERAGE DISHWASHER INSTALLATION! 🔧

This customer moved into their new-build property around a year ago, but in the rush to get the development completed, a dishwasher was never installed.

Instead, the space had been fitted out as a standard kitchen cupboard.

She contacted A M Appliance Repairs to see if anything could be done — absolutely! 👍

This one was a little more involved than your normal dishwasher installation:

🔹 Existing cabinet completely removed

🔹 Space prepared and adjusted for a full-size integrated dishwasher

🔹 New NEFF dishwasher supplied & fitted

🔹 Plumbing and electrical connection completed

🔹 Cabinetry and plinth adjusted to suit

🔹 Furniture door fitted and aligned

🔹 Appliance installed, tested and commissioned

And the end result... you'd never know the dishwasher wasn't part of the original kitchen. 👌

Most importantly, one very happy customer who finally has a dishwasher for the first time ever! 😂🙌

This is a good example of the installation work we can undertake at A M Appliance Repairs.

It isn't always simply a case of taking the old appliance out and sliding the new one in — we can often make the necessary alterations to get the job completed properly.

🔧 WHY SUPPORTING LOCAL REALLY MATTERS 🔧

Yesterday I received a call from a customer looking to book a repair on their tumble dryer.

They asked my call-out charge, and I explained that it’s £96 including VAT.

They decided that was too expensive and said they’d go directly to the manufacturer instead because they believed it would be cheaper.

Now, I completely respect everyone’s decision and budget — but I’m not convinced going directly to the manufacturer will necessarily work out cheaper.

From what I regularly see within the industry, manufacturer repair charges can often be in the region of £150–£200, depending on the appliance, fault and type of repair package.

So it’s always worth comparing what you're actually getting for your money, rather than simply assuming the manufacturer will be cheaper.

When you book with A M Appliance Repairs, you’re not dealing with a huge call centre or becoming another job number.

✅ You speak directly to the engineer who’ll attend your home

✅ You know the cost upfront

✅ You get a personal, local service

✅ I’ll always try to repair rather than simply replace

✅ You’re dealing with someone with 25+ years of engineering experience

✅ If you need to contact me afterwards, you’re speaking to the same person who actually carried out the repair

And importantly, my £96 including VAT call-out includes the initial visit AND the return labour if I need to come back and fit quoted parts.

Parts are quoted separately, but there isn't another labour charge simply because I need to order something and return.

Being the cheapest isn’t what running a good local business is about.

Providing good value, experience, honesty and a reliable service is.

Small independent businesses survive because local people choose to support them.

Every booking, recommendation, review and share genuinely makes a difference.

So before automatically going straight to a big manufacturer or national company, give your local independent engineer a chance — and compare like-for-like. 🔧💙

Thank you as always to everyone who continues to support A M Appliance Repairs. It really is appreciated.

🔧 TRUSTED. VETTED. APPROVED. 🔧

I’m pleased to say that A M Appliance Repairs has renewed our TrustATrader membership for another year — and we’re continuing as a Featured Trader for the local area. ⭐️

Being a member of TrustATrader isn’t simply a case of paying to advertise. Traders go through a vetting process, with checks carried out before being accepted and standards that must continue to be maintained.

TrustATrader also limits the number of traders it accepts within particular trades and areas, meaning customers aren’t faced with hundreds of unverified companies when looking for someone they can trust.

For me, it’s another way of giving customers reassurance that when you book A M Appliance Repairs, you’re dealing with an established local business that takes its reputation, workmanship and customer service seriously.
