What Does a Bitting Consultant Do?
A bitting consultant helps you and your horse communicate more comfortably and confidently by finding the most suitable bit for your individual partnership.
Every horse is different, which is why bitting is never a one-size-fits-all solution. During a consultation, I assess your horse’s mouth conformation, observe how they move and respond to the bit, and listen carefully to any challenges you may be experiencing. From there, we explore options that support comfort, clarity, and confidence — for both horse and rider.
A bitting consultation can help:
• Improve softness and responsiveness
• Enhance comfort and relaxation
• Support better performance and confidence
• Ensure the bit works with your horse, not against them
Where appropriate, different bits may be trialled, with small adjustments making a big difference. You’ll receive clear, practical advice tailored specifically to you and your horse — not sales-driven recommendations.
After your session, you’ll receive a Personalised Bitting Consultation Report, summarising what we assessed, the bits tried, and my recommendations, so you can move forward with confidence.
The bit may be small, but it plays a vital role in how your horse feels and performs.
If you’ve ever questioned whether your current bit truly suits your horse, a bitting consultation can make all the difference.
