🐝 We were recently called out to a customer who discovered a small wasp nest hidden within garden waste. Fortunately, she spotted it before disturbing it too much and avoided being stung.

Even small nests can react aggressively if disturbed, especially when wasps feel their nest is under threat. As the weather warms up, it’s always worth being cautious when moving garden waste, compost, sheds, or stored materials around your property.

🐝 We were recently called out to remove a wasp nest hidden inside a customer’s log store.

Log stores provide the perfect sheltered environment for wasps to build nests, especially during the warmer months. If you’re collecting logs or moving stored materials around your garden, it’s always worth checking carefully for signs of wasp activity first.

Thankfully this nest was dealt with safely before it became a much larger problem later in the summer.

🐝 June Wasp Season Update 🐝

Wasp nests are now starting to grow rapidly, with many reaching the size of apples or tennis balls. At this stage, colonies are becoming well established, meaning the queen no longer needs to leave the nest and is now focused solely on laying eggs every day.

You may begin to notice light but consistent wasp traffic in and out of a certain area around your home, shed, loft, or roofline. This is often one of the first clear signs of an active nest developing nearby.

Now is the ideal time to deal with nests before they become much larger during the peak summer months. If you’ve noticed any activity around your property, feel free to get in touch. 🐝

Wasp season update - May 🐝

We’re seeing more reports of small nests – often golf ball sized – in sheds, lofts, and other sheltered areas. These nests are built by a single queen and now contain eggs, but in many cases they haven’t hatched (yet).

Now is the ideal time to act. Dealing with nests at this stage prevents them from developing into much larger problems later in the summer. If you spot anything, feel free to get in touch.

When temperatures rise in spring, queens come out of hibernation and begin looking for suitable places to start building their nests. Now is the time to stay vigilant and keep an eye on loft spaces, sheds, rooflines and sheltered areas around your home.
