We found this nest tucked away inside a roll of carpet that had been left undisturbed in a customer’s shed. It’s exactly the kind of sheltered, quiet space wasps can take advantage of – and you could easily disturb the nest without knowing it was there.

After dealing with hundreds of wasp nests in lofts, sheds, hot tubs, roofs and all sorts of unusual places, I thought I’d seen just about everything….until finding this one inside a children’s pushchair.

We removed this active wasp nest from a customer’s shed after they noticed increased activity. Sheds provide the perfect nesting environment – they’re sheltered, dry and can have plenty of quiet corners that remain undisturbed for weeks.

If you’re moving boxes, tools or garden equipment and notice wasps regularly coming and going, take care before reaching into areas you can’t see.

🔥🐝 Please don’t try this at home!

We were called out to this partially burnt wasp nest after a customer’s attempt to destroy it with fire hadn’t worked. Despite the damage to the nest, there were still plenty of live wasps inside – and understandably, they weren’t particularly happy about being disturbed!

Trying to burn a wasp nest can create a serious fire risk and may provoke the colony, increasing the chance of multiple stings. If you discover a nest, keep your distance and leave the treatment to someone with the correct equipment.

This one was safely dealt with and the remaining wasps treated.
