It’s Dementia Action week!💜

Dementia Action Week is an important opportunity to raise awareness about dementia, challenge stigma, and encourage communities to support those living with the condition. It helps educate people about the signs and symptoms of dementia, promotes early diagnosis, and highlights the importance of compassionate care and inclusion. The week also recognises the experiences of families and carers, while encouraging individuals, workplaces, and organisations to take action in creating a more dementia friendly society.

A fantastic team of people Vita have been busy delivering training to over the course of the last couple of months... we are looking forward to the next cohort, and meeting more of the fabulous leaders! 🥳

Congratulations to our managers who have successfully completed the Skills for Care endorsed Lead to Succeed programme from Vita Training & Development!

Delivered as part of our internal leadership development programme, “PossAbilities Leaders, Lead the Way,” the course supported delegates to develop authentic leadership styles, strengthen their understanding of workplace culture, and build confidence.

Participants also deepened their understanding of the CQC Single Assessment Framework, including the evidence required to enhance care quality across services.

Zoe from Vita Training & Development shared: “What an absolute pleasure it has been to collaborate with the team at PossAbilities. Every delegate has shown willingness and dedication to improving their own development by establishing their strengths, weaknesses, and GAP analysis, in the best interest of the service users and everyone else at PossAbilities.”

Can't help but share a selfie with this little darling at a service I just visited... meet Timmy!

The joy he brought me reflects the positive outcomes for clients as well:

- Reduced Stress/Anxiety: Interaction with dogs lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and releases endorphins, creating a calming and cheerful atmosphere.
- Combatting Loneliness: Dogs offer unconditional love and companionship, easing feelings of isolation.
- Dementia Support: Dogs can trigger happy memories, improve cognitive skills, and reduce distress for residents with dementia.

Working from home definitely comes with its perks: no travelling, more flexibility, and the joy of being in your own space. Let’s not forget the other member of the house who's convinced they’re your new colleague – your cat / cats!

Whether they’re walking across your keyboard, staring into the we**am during meetings, or having a snooze right next to you, they’re always there to remind you to take a break and enjoy the little things.
