Why does the English winter affect people's motivation?
1. Lack of sunlight
2. Not the cold as much as the damp greyness
3. People hibernate (less socialising)
4. People feel busier due to "shorter days"
5. The feeling of "tredding water" until spring
These are all things that I struggle to get my head around. From 17 years old I was made to be a driven individual no matter what the situation, weather or how I felt. The Royal Marines taught me that no matter the environmental factors, if there was an objective to get done then it gets done!
After running MKM for over 9 years, I see a difference in people's motivation and class attendance as winter creeps in. For me, I see it one way. There is nothing to do in winter in England so time to get my head down even more and smash training goals to keep myself physically and MOST IMPORTANTLY mentally strong 💪
At MKM, The kettle is always on, there is always someone with a smile on there face and ready to out a set of gloves or pads on for you. Together the club doesn't survive the winter , it THRIVES!!!
The above "winter excuses" are irrelevant and have become a thing that society just does. We REFUSE to slip into that winter laziness and depression. We will train week in, week out!
Join us and you will see what im talking about. By spring you will be a new person. If not, enjoy your hibernation, See you on the other side! 😉
