Energy saving tip of the week!

Did you know that defrosting your freezer every 6 months (or when frost exceeds 2–3 mm) is a highly effective way to reduce your energy consumption. Ice build up acts as an insulator, forcing the motor to work harder, which can increase energy costs by as much as 30%.

Regular maintenance can save roughly £25 to £100+ annually on energy bills.

If you would like support on how you can reduce your energy bills call the friendly YES team on 0808 164 2444 today.

Energy saving tip of the week!

Using high-efficiency appliances (formerly A++/A+++, now generally A-D rating) significantly reduces energy bills by lowering electricity and water consumption, with efficient fridges consuming up to 5 times less energy than standard models.

Upgrading to A-rated models, optimizing usage, and choosing appropriately sized appliances can lead to significant lifetime savings for your household.

Speak to our advice team for more energy saving tips on 0808 164 2444 today.

Are you looking to switch your energy tariff?

There are 2 main types of tariffs:

• Standard variable tariff - your rate goes up and down with the price of energy
• Fixed tariff - your rate stays the same for the length of your contract

There are different kinds of energy tariffs to choose from - you can use most of them with gas and electricity. To work out the best one for you, think about your budget, type of meter and any specific needs you have, for example, if you need more energy at night.

If you’re not sure what gas or electricity tariff you’re on now, contact your supplier. Alternatively call the YES advice line and we can assist by completing a tariff check on your behalf and get you on the right tariff for winter. Call 0808 164 2444 today.

We are excited to be working with Nottingham City Council My Nottingham this week, delivering energy efficiency advice to the residents in the heart of the city centre. One of our Mobile Advice Centres (MAC) has been invited to park outside Primark on Smithy Row Monday to Friday of this week.

YES are working with Nottingham City Council and Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP) on the Councils Warm Homes Local Grant Scheme (WHLG). This scheme can provide residents with funded installation measures for insulation, air source heat pumps and solar PV panels.

Our energy advisors on the MAC van will also be speaking to residents about ways to reduce their energy bills, the Priority Services Register, carbon monoxide safety, energy bill tariff comparisons, smart meters and income maximisation, with onward referrals and signposting where relevant.

We can hand out free carbon monoxide monitors and will post our free Energy Saving Advice Pack out in the post. The Pack contains useful tips and gadgets that can be used around the home to save money on energy bills and keep the home warmer.

We are able to speak to the public face to face in our incredible MAC vans thanks to our partner Cadent, who have funded the MACs. Cadent are the largest Gas Distribution Network Operator in England and are funding the MACs to make it easier for their residents to access energy advice no matter where they live.

Come down and see us. We'd love to talk to you!
