Pod's Perspective - Vineyard Update!
Learn all things w**e with Pod!
Our first episode asks: “What’s happening in the vineyard?”
Pod takes us behind the scenes to share the latest from the vines and explains what the recent rain means for this year’s harvest.
After a long period of drought, the rain has been very welcome.
While there’s a risk that some grape skins may split as the berries swell, others are thriving - producing more juice as they ripen. And those smaller grapes? They’re packed with concentrated flavour.
So, how do we know when the grapes are ready to pick?
Pod explains how the team combines the traditional method of tasting and feeling the grapes with testing sugar, acidity and pH levels to pinpoint the perfect time for harvest.
This year, harvest is expected to be 2–3 weeks earlier than usual, with our Bacchus grapes potentially being picked as early as next week! The remaining varieties will follow over the coming weeks, with the harvest expected to be complete by mid-October.
And when can we enjoy this year’s grapes?
Our Pinot Noir will soon be harvested for our sparkling w**es, which will take around 18–24 months to reach the shelf. Our still w**es take around 9–12 months — so there’s plenty to look forward to!
