The incredible monstera deliciosa (Swiss Cheese plant) really makes a statement! Currently waiting for three new leaves to unfurl on mine! 🌱

It can take up to 3 years for the plant to develop it’s signature splits leaves, but it is a quick grower and looks fabulous from 2 feet to 8 feet!

It is definitely Autumn, the leaves are dropping and the covens are gathering, so it is time for birch twig besoms.

Birch scrub was cut just after new year when the sap was down, and bales of twigs were stored under cover to season; if you use fresh or spring or summer harvested twigs they will just break up really quickly.

At the start of Autumn the twigs are sorted, graded and bundled up to form the besom's head, bound tightly with wire, and trimmed up, the waste twigs making perfect kindling. Then a pointed hazel handle is driven into the broom and held in place with a drilled peg.

Simply the best broom for tidying gardens, sweeping lawns or yards, flying the autumnn skies or a handfasting.
