We go through childhood, then school, then into work, and are often expected to just exist. That needs to change.
In the latest episode of The Wellbeing Hour, Nat Brewer reflects on why space for emotions belongs in the workplace. Many of us grew up without much room to say how we felt, and then carried that into our working lives. Nat makes the case for something better: giving people a genuine, judgement-free way to check in with themselves and each other. She is also honest about the balance it requires, because alongside that space sits resilience, and the reality that sometimes we need to find the strength to face difficult things and do them anyway. Knowing when to ask for help is part of that, not the opposite of it.
Watch The Wellbeing Hour to hear Nat on emotions and resilience at work.
