With Remembrance Sunday approaching, here are three past projects restoring WW1 Rolls of Honour. These are frequently on paper or vellum, sometimes incorporating photographs.

1. Kelham Island, Sheffield, steel works Roll of Honour damaged in flood.
2. Brearton, N Yorks village Roll of Honour on vellum, housed in local church porch and damaged by damp.
3. A hand-inscribed lithograph, issued to Methodist chapels, was faded and damaged by silverfish. After cleaning, lettering was re-inscribed and a copy made by using Photoshop to combine an unfaded print with text of original for display.

We’ve conserved many Rolls of Honour over the years of all sizes for schools, village halls, church communities and societies. Grants towards conservation are available from War Memorials Trust
