It might be a gesture, a picture, a facial expression, a communication aid, a behaviour, or simply knowing someone well enough to recognise what theyโ€™re trying to tell you.

For children and young people with autism or learning disabilities, good support starts with understanding their individual way of communicating, rather than expecting them to communicate ours.
