With the creation of North Yorkshire Council, the town of Harrogate has been subsumed into a much larger geographic area. In terms of planning, it means NYC is likely to offer a more strategic approach to making decisions that may not benefit the town. So, The Civic Society, Zero Carbon Harrogate and I are now leading on the idea of a Neighbourhood Plan for Harrogate. It will set out a Vision and then policies and proposals to shape the future of the town - recognising opportunities for change and offering protection for the things we all love about our town. A Forum (aka steering group) is being set up to coordinate and drive the drafting of the Neighbourhood Plan and anyone can join - the more the merrier! Alternatively, there will be lots of opportunity to comment as consultation is a big part of the process. More information is on The Civic Society's website or else message me

We have secured consent to allow for the installation of the facilities required to, in effect, make coal. This is revolutionary. We’re entering another era. Not only will the pyrolysis plant make a meaningful contribution to reducing carbon emissions in the UK but it will provide the opportunity to fundamentally alter the way we produce food.
