📢 Employment Rights Act 2025 – Consultation Update

The government has launched a new consultation focusing on proposed reforms to zero hours contracts—and it’s one employer should not overlook.

👥 Who will this affect?
The proposals apply to:
• Workers on zero hours contracts; and
• Workers earning below a weekly hour’s threshold (currently suggested between 8–20 hours — a notably wide range).

⚠️ Why it matters
These proposed changes are complex and raise significant practical questions. If your organisation uses zero hours workers, we strongly encourage you to have your say.

📝 Key proposed reforms include:
• A right to guaranteed hours based on historic working patterns
• A right to reasonable notice for shifts and any changes
• A right to compensation for shifts cancelled or changed at short notice

• Expected implementation: January 2027
