Who knew that is an important part of designing a workplace that builds community?

Placemaking is a community-centered approach to the design and management of public spaces. It involves creating vibrant, functional, and inclusive public spaces that encourage people to gather, connect, and engage with each other.

Placemaking can involve a wide range of activities, including urban design, landscape architecture, public art, and community engagement. The goal is to create places that reflect the unique character of the community and provide a sense of identity and belonging for those who use them.

Ultimately, placemaking is about creating spaces that are welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. By enhancing the quality of public spaces, placemaking can help to foster a sense of community, support local businesses, and promote social and economic well-being.

This is a love letter to Harrogate and to my friends and family who don’t live in the town centre so never saw their home town look so beautiful and so full…

Wellbeing is at the centre of all our designs in of our workspace environments, but we need wellbeing in our home environments first and foremost.

Creating spaces that make us feel safe, warm and calm is fundamental for us as humans!
I was really hesitant about the deepness and darkness of the green, but I’m so happy we chose the ‘Scottish Kilt‘ (yes, even Interior Designers doubt their decisions in their own home). So happy with the end result, as the colour and texture of velvet on the upholstery feels rich and opulent. Textures and colours do so much for our sense of well-being.
The TV cabinet is the last piece to go in the living room from . Love it!

I’ve named it the ‘room of tranquility’ and it’s where you will find me hiding during these uncertain times.

Why is it easier to make design decisions for others than it is for our own homes??🤔 A guess we should trust our instincts! It’s also key to point out, colour is so subjective, do whatever makes you happy don’t try and always go with what looks good on Pinterest (I very much did both 🤣)

Well I never thought I would do one, let alone Three Half Marathons this year!! Thanks for my training with Nidd Valley Road Runners I have achieved what I set out to do!

Shaving 10mins off my last time at Great North Run (three weeks ago). I ran my PB yesterday of 2:07 😁 at Redcar, despite the North East Coast Weather! ☔️ 💨
It makes that sub 2hrs far more realistic! Who knows what 2020 will hold for me! I now know what I can do!

Today is World Sepsis Day!

Every 3.5 secs someone dies of Sepsis.

Sepsis can initially look like flu, gastroenteritis or a chest infection. There is no one sign, and symptoms present differently between adults and children.

I felt very ill, very quickly and I was lucky that the Doctors at Harrogate hospital acted quickly and saved my life.

If I can raise awareness, I will! I have realised that the more I talk about it, the more people ask me questions and also tell me of tragic stories of their own that have been at the result of Sepsis.

I’m glad I’m here to raise awareness and also support The UK Sepsis Trust.

Just Ask, Could it be Sepsis?
