Welcome to Kahuna Reef Motivation.

Do you want to keep a reef aquarium and don't know where to start or already have one but think it could be better? Are you fed up of trawling the internet to look for answers to your questions but never know what to believe? Are you sceptical of the advice offered by your local fish store, which may be prioritising sales over what your aquarium actually needs?

If you've answered yes to any of the above then I can help. Whether you are new to reef aquariums or an experienced hobbyist I can help maximise the potential of your aquarium.

As a hobbyist for over 45 years I can offer honest, impartial advice based on practical experience without the pressures associated with retail environments.

Whilst I can offer the usual services such as general maintenance and holiday cover I can provide a range of support services that will help you improve your reef aquarium. I say 'you' as my aim is to work with you not just for you, learning as you go
so you become more confident in your own ability to create and sustain a successful reef aquarium. A measure of my success will not only be improving your reef aquarium but also that you become less dependant on my support.

Keeping a successful reef aquarium is all about knowledge and learning (I'm still learning even after all this time) and I want to give something back to the hobby I've enjoyed over the last five decades. Anyone can make make changes to an aquarium but what's important is why those changes are needed and what the benefits (and implications) may be. Without that understanding you don't progress or simply drift from one issue to another as a result of knee jerk reactions.

From the outset you will determine the overall objectives you want to achieve, whether is resolving ongoing issues, making general improvements or simply guidance on setting up your first aquarium.

Key to this will be a system appraisal, an overview of your current or proposed set up from which prioritised recommendations will be drawn up for you to implement should you so wish. For some that may be all that is required, for others I can oversee the implementation with further regular or ad-hoc visits, reviewing progress and making further recommendations if necessary.

Rest assured if I feel you don't need to change anything then that would be my recommendation. Sometimes doing nothing is the best option as unnecessary change in a reef aquarium may upset the current balance negating the improvements sought.

Hopefully this has given you an insight into my philosophy and approach to the service I'll be offering. If you require more information or details on pricing etc. then please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
