You want to attract your ideal spa therapist, but your job ad isn’t getting much interest. Before you feel like giving up try these five steps:
1️⃣ Get Clear on Your Spa’s Vision & Mission
Become clear on your spa's mission and vision and have a think of things like, What do you want your spa to be known for? What kind of experience do you offer to your guests? How do you want clients to feel when they visit? What would you like your therapists to be known for?
The clearer you are, the easier it is to attract spa therapists who truly align with your business.
2️⃣ Go Beyond Qualifications
What kind of spa therapists do you want to attract? I'm not just talking about what qualifications and experience you would like them to have but also things like. What values do they have? What drives them? What are they passionate about?
If you only focus on experience, you could be missing out on incredible therapists who are more aligned with your business than someone with five years under their belt but no real connection to your vision and core values.
3️⃣ Be Honest About What You’re Offering
If you’re looking for an experienced therapist but only offering minimum wage, ask yourself—will they really take the job? And if they do, are they only using it as a stop gap while they look for something better?
If a higher salary isn’t possible right now, have a clear plan for how you’ll develop and support a less experienced therapist to grow into the role you need. Be honest with the experienced therapist when they will likely get their desired salary.
4️⃣ Tackle Their Concerns Head-On
Therapists aren’t applying, why? The reality is, that many have had bad experiences working in spas. Long hours, lack of training, low pay, repetitive treatments… If your spa is different, tell them. Don’t assume they know. Address and overcome these concerns in your job ad so they can see why working for you is worth it.
5️⃣ Sell Your Spa to Them
Don’t just put out another standard job ad that sounds like all the rest. Show them why your spa is different, and what they are going to become a part of. Create a buzz and excitement.
The pool of therapists may be smaller, but there are still amazing ones out there—make sure your spa is the one that stands out.
Let me know how you get on.
