Quick update.
We would like to say thanks to Hartlepool MP Jonathon Brash and Leyton Davis for supporting us during the last couple of weeks. He’s still helping to arrange meeting with Cleveland Police. Mr Brash visited the shop and reassured our family for any possible help in future. We would like to extend our gratitude to the community for being so supportive and helpful.

Leaving politics aside🙏🏽
I would like to Thank our community which always make us feel safe and supported us for decades.
I would like to Thank Jonathan Brash for raising this issue. The number of families born in this country that face racism due to their skin colour is horrific .
In this time of darkness filled with hate and racism, anyone lighting a candle showing rays of hope should be appreciated and applauded.
You cannot reason with anyone who cannot think beyond skin colour. Instead of calling out an individual’s wrongdoings, whole communities are targeted. There are not many politicians who can openly show support to hard working families from ethnic minorities.
Anyone having problems with someone’s skin colour or ethnic background would never be able to see a living human being. If someone can decide the legal status of someone because of how they look, this is very worrying for future generations growing up in this country.
Horrible online abuse and all of the platforms available that allow people to say anything without consequences is beyond my understanding. It’s scary to see the silence from good respectful people in the fear of being put on a social media trial, which clearly explains where we are heading.

Hello everyone. Thank you very much for all the kindness. We are feeling well protected and humbled by reaction from community. We are very well aware that all the progress happening is due to community support and help.
It’s a quick update about incident.
This man is been arrested.
All police officers are from our communities and they are one of us. But we need to point out if things are not working in order. Police came to the shop and took our statements. Police officer was very polite and helpful she listened our every concern with patience. We are thankful for that.
We officially raised complaint with Hartlepool police.
We emailed Jonathon brash last night. Hopefully he will be in touch later on.
We haven’t had any interaction with local councillors so far.
Again we are very thankful for your kind words, concerns and flowers. We are feeling well protected and humbled by reaction from community. Any progress happened so far is due to everyone’s support and we will be thankful for this forever🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hello everyone. We never thought we would have to post this after having the shop for 16 years. We have had scary experiences in the past but not to this extent. This person st*le alcohol from shop around 2:15pm. He came back to shop again around 4:35pm, because my daughter and 2 other minors were in the shop, Gee refused him entry in shop. What happened afterwards is hard to explain.
The first the we called police was at 101. To report the initial th*ft. Around 14:15

The second time we called the police was through 999 at 4:30pm to explain everything in the video but received no help from anyone.

We were forced to call 999 a third time to inform the police that if he is still around shop and if he will come back to shop I have no choice but to defend myself and my family. This was because he was walking on flint walk bragging about the fact that he’s already known to police and he will knock Gee’s teeth out of her mouth. At this point, I was hoping someone from police will arrive, however, hope was not enough.

We had to call 999 around 5:15 again, for the fourth time, to explain he’s outside threatening to “take care” of our whole family and that he will b u rn the shop down.

At 6:16pm we received call from police to check if he’s still around shop😳and told us that our situation was not considered an emergency because police is busy somewhere else and he was not “on scene” at the time of this call. This was the message after four phone calls made. We have been told if we want to shut the shop it’s up to us. Our safety has been thrown into our own hands. That’s coming from POLICE. I had to stand outside for hours so we could shut the shop and go home.
We kept open today hoping POLICE will come around to see if we are all right( nobody arrived till 8pm).
Considering the primary school in front , whole family and staff working in the shop, we cannot risk anyone’s life nor livelihood. We never asked anyone for any favour in last 16 years. we are requesting everyone to share so we can reach the right people before anything bad happens to anyone🙏🏽🙏🏽
