Meet the two most important members of the team.

It is International Dog Day, so we are handing the floor to Nova and Rory.

🧡 Nova, the black one, runs on-site security. Her remit is barking at anyone with the audacity to come within twenty feet of the office.
🧡 Rory, the ginger one, is Head of Rest and Relaxation. He takes the role extremely seriously.

Between them they have never once processed a donation, and we would not be without them.

What is Payroll Giving, really?

It is a way to give to any UK charity straight from your pay, before income tax is taken off.

🧡 You choose the charity, and you choose the amount
🧡 It comes out of your gross pay, so the tax relief is built in
🧡 Your charity gets the full amount every month, with no forms to fill in

That last point matters more than it sounds. Regular, predictable income is the kind a charity can actually plan around.

Wednesday 19 August is World Humanitarian Day, marked each year in memory of the 22 aid workers killed in the bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad in 2003. It's a day for the medics, logisticians, drivers and local staff still working long after the cameras have left.

Work like this needs funding it can count on.

We hear these a lot. So let's clear up five myths in one go.

Yesterday was International Youth Day, a moment to celebrate young people and, just as importantly, to listen to them.

Few places do that better than Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity, where young patients have helped shape something called the Youth Manifesto.

It was created through GOSH's Young People's Forum. Rather than deciding for them, the hospital sat down and listened, turning teenagers wishes into a set of commitments that guide how their care is delivered.

At its heart is the belief that young people are the experts on their own bodies and minds, and care works best as a genuine partnership.

From that flow the themes running through the manifesto:

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 that treats the whole person, not just the condition, looking after physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 that supports the human side of care rather than replacing the warmth that makes a hospital feel a little more like home.

𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 that reaches beyond the ward, helping young people hold on to normal teenage life and stay connected to the world outside.

It is a reminder that brilliant care is comes down to dignity, voice, and being treated as a person first.
