Happy International Women's Day. Although only a single day, we should remember and celebrate all they do for family, friends and society to make the world a better place every day. To Nicky and Hannah, thank you so much for being such amazing human beings. To all the other women with whom I have worked, thank you so much and to the physios, a special thank you too, as well as to friends who make our lives so much richer.

We know that mental well-being plays a key role in how we perform at work and in social settings. We also know that ownership of dogs has a very beneficial impact on well-being etc, which is why I am a volunteer with a group that conducts search and rescue to re-unite them with their owners. Our drones support these rescues and we sponsor some of the hi-vis jackets.

Today 80 nations signed a Political Declaration confirming their willingness to restrict the use of wide area explosive weapons in populated areas to strengthen protection of civilians. Proud to have made a small contribution through our research with . Many thanks to all those who had the vision to press for this and to those who helped with the research. You know who you are.

Just love it when you get positive feedback. This came from a delegate on our recent virtual course where I had 11 facilitators working their magic for 2 weeks: " this course is eye-opening...sort of..I wish I attended it before I took over my duties 10 years ago. I think all in all this course is being more instructive about...than any newcomer's training I saw."

Happy International Women's Day. 2020 has been exceptionally tough on women, especially those providing health and social care, on the front-line as police officers, or teachers completely transforming their working practices to teach online and giving up holidays to support key workers' children, as well as Mum's trying to and create a learning environment for their children or saying farewell to a relative who has passed away from Covid and consoling the family. Nor should we forget those businesswomen whose plans have been affected by Covid and whose businesses are so important to our economy and social well-being.

We have much to thank them for and not just today when we especially thank them. For those who also work with me, a particular thank you for all your contributions, hard work and being good company.
