MEET THE MEMBERS – ROB OWENS

This week we’re putting the spotlight on Rob Owens from Elite Office Supplies.

Printing is one of those business costs that can quietly creep up.

Toner gets more expensive, printers become less reliable, contracts roll over and before you know it, you’re spending far more than you realised.

That’s where Rob comes in.

Elite Office Supplies is a family-run business based in Wi******er, helping businesses take control of their printing costs and create a more reliable and efficient print setup.

Rob specialises in Managed Print Services, working with businesses to understand how they currently use their printers and identify where money, time and resources could be saved.

One of the ways he does this is through a complimentary printer review.

Rob can look at:

Your existing printers and how they’re being used
Current printing costs
Toner and consumable requirements
Reliability and potential downtime
Existing printer contracts
Opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency

And if you already have a printer contract?

One of Rob’s biggest pieces of advice is simple:

Find out when it ends.

Some printer agreements can automatically roll over, potentially tying businesses into another contract before they’ve had the chance to review whether it still represents good value.

Rob is happy to speak to businesses before their existing agreement expires, review the current setup and help them understand their options.

So, who would Rob particularly like to meet?

Business owners concerned about rising printing costs
Companies experiencing unreliable printers or regular downtime
Businesses approaching the end of a printer contract
Anyone who hasn’t reviewed their printing setup for several years

Sometimes you don’t realise you have a printing problem until somebody actually takes a proper look at it!

Rob is one of the trusted local business professionals you’ll meet at BNI Hampshire All Stars.

We meet every Friday morning at The Bear Hotel in Havant, and visitors are always welcome.

If you’d like to meet Rob — and a room full of other local business owners who are actively looking to build relationships, pass referrals and help each other grow — come and join us.

Friday morning with the Hampshire All Stars!

Another brilliant BNI meeting this morning, packed with learning, laughs and some very memorable 60-second pitches!

This week we mixed things up by covering all 7 BNI Core Values, with a different member giving us their take on each one:

Givers Gain
Building Relationships
Lifelong Learning
Traditions + Innovation
Positive Attitude
Accountability
Recognition

Our Education Slot was delivered by Ian Lee, who talked us through how to turn a 1-2-1 into meaningful business - making sure those conversations go beyond simply having a coffee and actually help us understand how we can support and refer one another.

Then came the 60-second pitches… and Rob Owens clearly decided to raise the bar this week!

His Top Ten music hits, complete with print-themed remixes, meant there was only going to be one winner of this week’s Oscar.

And for our 10-minute presentation, Andy Williams SEO asked:

What if Google was a dating app?

The message was simple — whether it’s Google or any other search platform, it’s not about getting endless matches.

It’s about getting the right match.

Another fantastic Friday morning with the All Stars.

💻 MEET THE MEMBERS – RICHARD BELL 💻

This week, we’re introducing another member of BNI Hampshire All Stars — Richard Bell, owner of Bluewall-IT Ltd.

Richard provides IT support and managed IT services to small and medium-sized businesses across Gosport, Fareham, Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.

And as Richard explains, good IT support isn't simply about fixing a computer when something goes wrong.

It’s about preventing problems before they happen.

From Microsoft 365 and cyber security to backups, networks and strategic IT planning, Richard helps businesses make sure their technology works reliably, stays secure and doesn't become something the business owner constantly has to worry about.

His ideal introduction?

A business with around 5–100 employees that relies heavily on technology but doesn't have its own dedicated IT department - particularly businesses looking for a long-term IT partner rather than someone they only call when something breaks.

Richard also sums up the BNI approach rather nicely:

Business is built on relationships and trust.

Networking isn't about selling to everyone in the room. It's about getting to know people, understanding their businesses and becoming someone they're confident recommending.

And if you've ever considered visiting Hampshire All Stars but feel a little unsure?

Richard's advice is simple:

Just come along and have a coffee.

There's no pressure. You'll meet a friendly group of local business owners, make some useful connections and get to experience what BNI is all about.

We meet every Friday morning and visitors are always welcome.

Want to come along and meet Richard and the rest of the Hampshire All Stars?

What do a positive attitude, business cards, financial management and another Oscar-worthy rant have in common?

They all featured in this morning’s BNI Hampshire All Stars meeting!

Nicola Cleverly chose Positive Attitude as our Core Value of the week and reminded us how easily negativity can affect a workplace or client relationship. Whatever the situation, always try to deliver the best version of yourself.

Jeff Laming then took over for the Education Slot and asked us to think about how we use our business cards.

Do you hand them out to everyone, or are you selective about who you give them to? A more thoughtful approach can make that small piece of card—and the conversation surrounding it—far more meaningful.

Our 60-second pitches brought their usual mixture of business insight and entertainment, with Ian Knight winning this week’s Oscar for another thoroughly amusing rant and pitch!

Finally, Vikki Lamb delivered our 10-minute presentation and introduced us to the Finance Management service offered by CPL Accounts.

It is an ideal solution for companies that need expert financial management and support but do not require someone in that role on a full-time basis.

Another brilliant Friday morning of networking, learning and laughter!

This week, we are introducing Ian Lee from Destin Chandler Hawkins — a Chartered Surveyor, experienced property professional and President of BNI Hampshire All Stars.

Ian has worked as a Chartered Surveyor for more than 30 years, helping people make informed decisions about one of the biggest purchases they are ever likely to make: their home.

His main area of work is providing pre-purchase property surveys for homebuyers, although he also carries out valuations for shared ownership, Help to Buy and statutory lease extension purposes.

What does a property surveyor really do?

There is sometimes a misconception that a surveyor is the “Dr Death” of a property transaction — arriving to uncover problems and give buyers reasons to pull out!

In reality, Ian and his team take a balanced and reasoned approach. Their role is to explain the condition of the property clearly, highlight anything the buyer should understand and provide the professional advice needed to make a confident decision.

For Ian, one of the best things about the job is that no two inspections are ever the same.

During one particularly memorable visit, he met a lady who had worked in the War Office with Winston Churchill. Hearing about her experiences made it one of the most fascinating property inspections Ian has ever completed!

Who is Ian’s ideal referral?

Ian particularly values introductions from:

🔹 Estate agents
🔹 Solicitors
🔹 Mortgage brokers

The perfect introduction is to a property professional who needs a trusted Chartered Surveyor to inspect a home on behalf of their client.

Ian is also an important part of Hampshire All Stars in his role as our Chapter President, helping to create the supportive and welcoming environment our members experience each week.

His advice to anyone feeling nervous about visiting us is simple:

“Don’t be. It is a very supportive environment.”

And something you may not know about Ian…

While at university, he reached the National Final of an auction competition where he was required to auction the Channel Tunnel!

Despite now regularly standing in front of the chapter as President, Ian admits that public speaking still makes him nervous. It is a great reminder that confidence does not always mean feeling completely comfortable — sometimes it means being prepared to step forward despite the nerves.

Would you like to meet Ian and the rest of Hampshire All Stars?

We meet every Friday at The Bear Hotel in Havant, bringing together local business owners who want to build genuine relationships, share opportunities and help one another grow.

Visitors are always made very welcome, so come along, meet the members and see what BNI Hampshire All Stars is all about.

Friday morning with the BNI Hampshire All Stars once again delivered plenty of learning, laughter and valuable business conversations.

Liam Clarke selected Lifelong Learning as this week’s Core Value, reminding us that however experienced or educated we become, there is always more we can learn. Remaining curious and open to new ideas helps us grow both personally and professionally.

Andy Williams SEO delivered this week’s Education Slot and made the connection between his former comedy career and his professional working life.

Whether you are performing for an audience or supporting a client, you need to understand what they want and deliver it — while still finding a way to do it in your own voice and style.

Our 60-second pitches brought plenty of useful referral requests and questions from around the room. Liam also took home this week’s Oscar after sharing some extremely valuable financial advice during his pitch.

The morning’s 10-minute presentation came from Richard Bell of Bluewall-IT Ltd, who talked us through his Unlimited IT Support package.

Richard explained why businesses benefit from having an ongoing IT partnership rather than only calling someone when a problem appears and paying by the hour.

Good IT support should look beyond the immediate quick fix. It should find the underlying cause, prevent the same issue from happening repeatedly and ultimately save the business time, disruption and money.

A meeting full of valuable lessons — keep learning, understand what your audience or client needs, and always aim to solve the real problem rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Another brilliant Friday morning with the BNI Hampshire All Stars! ?

Liam Clarke shared this week’s Core Value, choosing Positive Attitude and reminding us how important it is to stay positive through the tough, tiring and challenging times.

Vikki Lamb delivered the Education Slot, focusing on the importance of “closing the loop.” Getting feedback on the referrals we pass helps us understand what worked, improve future referrals and create better opportunities for our fellow members.

This week’s Oscar went to Kelly Molloy at Not Just Travel for a clear, focused and well-targeted 60-second pitch. Congratulations, Kelly! ??

Our 10-minute presentation came from Ian Knight, who walked us through a recent residential development project. Ian explained the process, the costs involved and why more people are choosing to convert existing properties rather than build from scratch as construction costs continue to rise.

Another enjoyable meeting filled with useful advice, shared knowledge and plenty of support for one another.

Another hot week, another brilliant Friday morning with the BNI Hampshire All Stars!

Kelly Molloy at Not Just Travel started today’s meeting by talking about the BNI Core Value of Recognition.

No one achieves success in BNI alone. It comes through the introductions, referrals, encouragement and support we receive from the people around us — so it is important to recognise and thank those who help us along the way.

Jeff followed with another fantastic Education Slot, asking us to think about the dangers of relying on just one or two clients for a large percentage of our monthly income.

What would happen if one of them suddenly left?

It was a great reminder that developing a wider client base does not just help a business grow — it also makes it more secure.

The 60-second presentations were as impressive as ever, with some brilliant and very specific referral requests. Liam Clarke took home this week’s Oscar after making it perfectly clear exactly who he would like to be introduced to! ??

Andy Williams SEO then delivered the 10-minute presentation, explaining why SEO isn’t dead — it is simply evolving.

He also warned businesses not to get caught out by agencies suddenly selling completely separate packages for services that should already be included within a modern SEO strategy.

The presentation ended with a great question:

Does your website network for you in the same way you network in a BNI room?

Does it explain who you help, what you do and why someone should choose your business — even when you are not there to have the conversation yourself?

Another excellent morning of learning, recognition, referrals and plenty of laughs with the Hampshire All Stars.
