August at Janus: a month in review 🛡️

August kept the Janus team on the move.

We deployed to Birmingham for a major jewellery exhibition, providing specialist security for high-value stock and exhibitors throughout the event.

Closer to home, our teams supported Victorious Festival weekend — covering new venues alongside our regular sites, all running smoothly at once.

Behind the scenes, our CCTV & Alarms division carried out multiple installations for clients looking to strengthen their site security, and our consultancy team delivered a range of security consultations across different sectors.

We rounded off the month on a lighter note, providing security for a local family-run horticultural show — a great reminder that our work covers everything from national exhibitions to community events.

🚴‍♂️ Back at Herne Hill Velodrome!

Janus Security Services was once again proud to support Cycle Electric at their E-Bike Demo Day at Herne Hill Velodrome.

After a great turnout at the Gravel Bike Demo Day, we were delighted to return and help keep the event safe and running smoothly for everyone who came down to try the latest e-bikes.

It was great to meet the team, watch people take the bikes for a spin, and be part of another brilliant day at one of London's most iconic cycling venues.

A few quick safety tips for anyone heading out to watch England play Panama:

🍹 Don't leave your drink unattended. Spiking can happen anywhere. If you think a drink's been spiked — yours or a mate's — tell a member of our security team straight away.

🆘 Feel unsafe or uncomfortable? Ask any staff member for "Angela." They'll know what it means and help you out, no questions asked.

🌡️ Janus CCTV – Heatwave Safety Notice

With the current heatwave continuing to affect the south coast, Janus Security Services will be postponing all CCTV installations requiring loft access until temperatures return to safe working levels.

Loft spaces can reach extreme and dangerous temperatures during periods of high heat, posing a genuine risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke to our engineers. The wellbeing and safety of our team will always come before deadlines.

We thank our clients for their understanding and will be in touch directly to reschedule affected installations as soon as conditions improve.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a Door Supervisor with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role. As a Door Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining order and ensuring the safety of patrons, staff, and premises.

Responsibilities:

* Monitor and control access to premises, ensuring only authorized individuals enter
* Maintain a high level of customer service, handling complaints and incidents in a professional manner
* Patrol designated areas, responding to security breaches and incidents
* Work effectively with colleagues and management to achieve security objectives
* Provide accurate and detailed incident reports
* Adhere to company policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols

Requirements:

* 2 years of experience as a Door Supervisor or similar role
* SIA (Security Industry Authority) licensed
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and situations
* Physical fitness and ability to stand for long periods
* Reliable and punctual, with a flexible approach to working hours

Desired Qualifications:

* Previous experience in the security industry
* Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including licensing and health and safety requirements
* First aid training or certification

This afternoon, Callum and Sam headed up to fellow National Association of Jewellers member Bailey & Sons following their recent refurbishment, to carry out a comprehensive security consultation. 🔐

Our security consultation service — established by a jewellery security specialist, for jewellery specialists — is designed to help retailers identify potential vulnerabilities, not only within their stores, but across their shipping and delivery procedures too. Following each consultation, clients receive a detailed report with tailored recommendations, and follow-up scenario-based staff training is frequently advised.

The refurbishment at Bailey & Sons has been completed to an exceptional standard — the attention to detail throughout the store was truly impressive, and very much reflected in the quality of their bespoke pieces. A real credit to the team! ✨

The UK's national terrorism threat level has been raised to SEVERE as of 30 April 2026.

This means a terrorist attack is considered highly likely. The change follows the horrific antisemitic attack in Golders Green, North London, and a broader, sustained rise in terrorist activity across the UK.
