Lot 138 LAURA BRUMM, British (active 1902-1920) ‘Salome’,
Young woman wearing an Arabian Headdress,

signed and dated LR: L. Brumm 1904
oil on canvas
60cm x 45cm

Laura Brumm was both a landscape and portrait artist. She exhibited at the Liverpool Corporation Autumn Exhibition of Modern Art at the Walker Art Gallery in 1905; with the Allied Artists’ Association at the Royal Albert Hall in 1909 and 1911, and at the Royal Academy in 1917 (no. 388 News From Home). Married to Charles Brumm (b. 1853 in Germany), the couple first lived in Southport, where Charles became president of the Birkdale Liberals and chairman of the Birkdale and County Liberal Club. With the outbreak of the First World War, however, Brumm’s husband retreated from Merseyside politics and the couple moved south with their two daughters to 12 Harley House, Regent’s Park, London. She occasionally signed her name with a single M, possibly to hide the Germanic origin of her husband. For further information on the artist see: Dennis Child, Painters in the Northern Counties of England and Wales, Leeds, 1994. The cataloguer wonders if this Orientalist work is perhaps also a self portrait.

Lot 115 JOAN EARDLEY, Scottish (1921-1963), “Landscape, Yellow Sky”,

pastels on paper,
16 x 24cm

Provenance:
Ewan Mundy Fine Art: Joan Eardley Exhibition, 1992
The Scottish Gallery, Eardley Exhibition, 1992
Aitken Dott & Son, Festival Exhibition, Edinburgh, 1963, cat. No. 112

This charming vivacious pastel reveals a gloaming sky, with looming rocky outcrop next to a shoreline. It seems highly likely to be a view of Catterline Bay, closer study of the rocky outcrops in the bay support this location.

Catterline was the focus of many works by Eardley. She owned a small cottage in the community and loved to paint the landscape and stormy eastern coast there. It makes an interesting counterpoint to her charming studies of the Samson children and friends in Glasgow tenements.

Lot 36 is this remarkable Apollo 15 Photo Presentation, personally signed by astronaut David Scott – one of only twelve people ever to walk on the Moon.

In 1971, Apollo 15 pushed the boundaries of lunar exploration, becoming the first mission to use the Lunar Rover and allowing astronauts to travel further across the Moon’s surface than ever before.

David Scott spent almost three days on the Moon, conducting experiments, collecting samples, and making history. His signature on this presentation transforms it from a fascinating space collectible into a genuine connection to one of humanity’s greatest achievements.

Whether you’re a space enthusiast, collector of historical memorabilia, or simply captivated by the story of mankind’s journey beyond Earth, this is a rare opportunity to own a signed piece of the Apollo legacy.
