⚠️ NOT ALL OVEN CLEANING IS THE SAME ⚠️
Unlike many “Jack of All Trades” cleaners — and potentially even some oven cleaners — we at Ovenclean and Repairs do NOT use off-the-shelf oven-cleaning products such as Oven Pride, Oven Mate and similar highly caustic products.
Why? Because many of these products contain caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), which, if used incorrectly or left on unsuitable surfaces, can cause serious and irreversible damage to parts of your oven.
The photos below show examples of the sort of damage and residue we come across:
🔹 Shelf supports: Caustic products can attack certain finishes and coatings, leaving chrome and metalwork permanently damaged.
🔹 Oven interior & fixings: Residual cleaner can attack metal components — even screws and fixings around the fan cover.
🔹 Behind the fan cover: This is the bit you DON’T normally see. Cleaner and residue can remain trapped behind the cover and around the fan assembly. Over time, contamination and corrosion around moving components can contribute to premature fan problems.
🔹 Elements: Grill and fan elements can also be damaged by inappropriate application of aggressive cleaning chemicals.
And perhaps most importantly…
You really don’t want caustic cleaning residue anywhere near the food you cook.
At Ovenclean and Repairs, we don’t use caustic soda in our oven-cleaning process. We clean thoroughly, safely and professionally — and because we also repair ovens, we know what’s going on behind the panels, not just what looks shiny from the outside.
Every clean also includes our complimentary Oven Service & MOT, with advisory notes where required.
