As we wrap up a busy football season across The Premier League and EFL (English Football League), our detection dogs, and handlers - including our NCTAS-P accredited teams - have delivered a pawsome year supporting our clients in their wider security and counter-terrorism operations.

The NCTAS-P standard sets the benchmark for professionally trained explosive detection dogs, ensuring the highest level of professionalism and performance across every deployment. Throughout the season, our teams have operated in every weather condition imaginable: from snow and freezing winter temperatures, to heavy thunderstorms, and most recently the extreme heat that saw London reach 35°C over the weekend.

Across all deployments, animal welfare has remained our unwavering priority, including frequent rest breaks, access to shade and water, and continuous monitoring of each dog’s wellbeing ensure their welfare is never compromised.

Looking ahead, more of our NASDU/NSCTO accredited EDD teams, will be progressing through their NCTAS-P assessments over the summer, expanding our operational capability, and ensuring we are fully prepared for the start of the new season.

Our dogs and handlers are now enjoying a well-earned break before gearing up for a packed schedule of summer events and festivals. 🌞 We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our EDD/DD handlers for an exceptional season and for helping keep millions of people safe.

Following last week’s Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) Conference, we officially launched our certified Level 2 Introduction to Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Course - with our first learners already signed up! 🎉🎉

In today’s evolving threat landscape, understanding HVM principles is more important than ever for anyone involved in public safety, events, venues, and the built environment. This course has been developed by our in-house counter terrorism specialists, training professionals, and crowd management teams, ensuring it is grounded in real operational experience and aligned with NPSA guidance and best practices, hostile vehicle threats and signs of hostile reconnaissance, permanent and temporary HVM measures and vehicle security barriers, as well as roles and responsibilities in protective planning, crowd flow rates and key legal and planning considerations.

It’s ideal for organisations preparing for Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (also known as Martyn’s Law), as well as architects, planners, security professionals, event and venue teams, facilities managers, and anyone responsible for public-facing environments.

Today marks the 9th anniversary of the Manchester Arena terror attack. 🌹

Our thoughts are with the 22 people killed, their families, friends, and all those forever affected by that terrible night.

After years of campaigning, and just over a year after Royal Assent, the statutory guidance for the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law) has now been published - a defining step in the journey towards ensuring those responsible for keeping people safe fulfil mandatory obligations.

Today is a reminder of why the work we do really matters. 🕊️

Thanks to the Sports Grounds Safety Authority for a brilliant day at their annual conference yesterday. 🙌

This year’s event at Silverstone was busier than ever, with some really important conference topics, including an update from Michelle Russell and Laura Gibb from the Security Industry Authority about the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act (Martyn’s Law) regulation and the Section 12 consultation. Thanks to all the delegates who came to our stand and talked us through your requirements and security challenges – lots of conversations for us to follow up this week and some site visits to arrange! 📆

Want to improve the counter terrorism preparedness and resilience of your public space, premises or event but aren’t sure what you need or where to start?

Our approach is always to provide a proven approach to risk assessment so that any measures we recommend are:

🎯 targeted
🙌appropriate
💡proportionate

We offer Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessments (TVRA), Vehicle Dynamics Assessments (VDA) or Security Risk Assessments which enable us to advise you on both tailored Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) solutions, and other protective security and operational measures you can put in place to mitigate risk.

As an integrated security and counter terrorism specialist, we offer a joined-up approach, with certified crowd management professionals working with our counter terrorism team to ensure crowd flows and crowd safety are considered as part of HVM strategies, in line with National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) guidance.

Working with partners is fundamental to the way we protect people at SAFECROWDS GROUP, and we love an opportunity to build on those professional relationships. Our Co-MD, Steve Faye was delighted to be invited to Allianz Stadium by our long-standing partner Safetyflex Barriers at the weekend for the Army Navy Match at Twickenham, which brings together service personnel, veterans and armed forces supporters for a rugby union match played between the senior XV teams of the Royal Navy and British Army. As part of the leadership team for a company that routinely looks after security, stewarding, counter terrorism protection and traffic management at various stadiums, it was great for Steve to enjoy the game as a fan, rather than part of the home team side for a change. And as an Armed Forces Covenant company that employs a number of people who have served, we’re always keen to champion armed forces personnel.

It was a great chance for our Steve to catch up with Dave Rose, Rob Gerrard, Marcus Gerrard and Jeremy Tettmar, and a reminder that partnerships with leading HVM manufacturers and distributors is vital to delivering the right hostile vehicle mitigation solutions for every project.

The vehicle as a weapon attack in Leipzig yesterday is another reminder that embedding HVM in the public realm is a key consideration. These design guidelines from the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) are a useful and important resource when planning any urban landscaping or redevelopment programme.

Our thoughts are with all those affected and the two people killed in this upsetting incident.

You may have seen on the news that he UK terrorism threat level has been raised to 'severe', which means an attack is ‘highly likely’. For those responsible for public safety, this is a cue for sharper focus and sense checking protective security, staff awareness and incident response plans.

Vigilance and preparedness are more important than ever, not just in terms of physical security, but also across up-to-date and bespoke risk assessment, operational procedures, training and staff competency.

There is no need to panic, but there is a need to check preparedness and address any vulnerabilities and mitigate risk.

We’re usually at Selhurst Park for Crystal Palace Football Club's deployments, so it was great to be there in a different capacity for Job Fairs by The Bridge 🙌

With new clients coming on board and existing partnerships continuing to grow, we’re actively recruiting across a range of roles including SIA door/ head door supervisors, SIA retail security operatives, traffic management operatives and event security and stewards. The event gave us a fantastic opportunity to meet potential team members, and showcase what we do as an integrated security and counter terrorism specialists.

At SAFECROWDS GROUP, we recognise the importance of offering opportunities to communities we serve. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk to us!
