I’ve had capacity open up and more days to add 🎉 as my youngest who’s 3 starts pre school next week 😱, first time since 2019 when I was pregnant with my first ( and had my new business ) I’ve not a had a child at home with me , I’ve worked extremely hard , rode the waves of parenthood, pandemics, juggled , survived nursery bugs , sleep being not available 😆and made it one day at time!

Let’s go back to 2005
👏🏻Smashed recruiment day in the non Salubrious Sasha’s hotel in Manchester then off to training in Essex
🏖️then became Tara at Tui
👏🏻I was a holiday rep for Thomson / Tui
🧐They put me in the worst performing 3 star hotel and we made it the best sales they had ever seen in Menorca
🎉Less than 3 months in the role , my welcome meetings ( where we would welcome/ sell to guests 😉became legendary , I promptly sent around the different Tui resorts , to work and train the reps on how to sell , write their scripts and be well more … Tara ( I never look like I’m selling )
❤️I was only just 21 years old and didn’t think it was strange it was just normal to me to show people how to do this
👏🏻I won most comical injury of the season at end of Season awards ( I fell down a hole a guest was complaining about 😆)
🏆My team and I were top sellers in the whole Balearics that season yes take that Majorca and Ibiza !!
👙I then graduated to earn a place as their Twenty’s reps ( you couldn’t apply you were picked it was only the best sales people )
🧳I said great and they said you need to do winter season before you start twenty’s rep in April, brilliant I said , send me anywhere just not Benidorm !!n
🏖️Guess what ? They sent me to Benidorm… to improve slow sales , it wasn’t for me , half a season I left
🍻flew straight home and back into my old job in hospitality at Beluga in bramhall village , Cheshire
📞Tui kept calling all winter to come back for summer but I got promoted to duty Manager at Beluga ,then GM and then rest is history ❤️

🏖️it held a special place in my heart and is very similar to hospitality and I learnt so much and had so much fun too

( fyi this was my welcome meeting / airport outfit , normally day to day wore polo and shorts )

💡My 7 Tips to be a successful Hospitality Business Development Manager

👀Be curious - What’s opening near your venue? What’s are the latest f&b trends, what is that new office block opening ?

💃Getting out and about is essential, don’t be stuck behind the laptop all time ( even if feels like you are chained to it ) make time, attend the event, network

⭐️Give yourself permission to get things wrong, we all make mistakes during our career sometimes ! We are human
Don’t hide the mistake , fix it and learn from and put systems in place to avoid doing it again ,it’s called Failing forward

👏🏻Your relationship with your site GM is essential, find out their best way of working and when to meet / catch up / sign things off.I’ve worked with many fantastic GMs and if both on same page that’s where the magic happens and sales success

👏🏻Back yourself sometimes you will have to fight your corner with your superiors over that event you want to host, wiggle room on spends , have all your information ready & your WHY

📧Follow up follow up follow up on everything from enquiries , new connections and post events at your venues
🤝Be kind , be respectful to the people you work with regardless of their role
