The role
We are looking for experienced and motivated Relief Security Operatives to join our flexible team on an as-needed basis. You will cover a variety of assignments, including static guarding, door supervision, mobile patrols, and alarm response, supporting our permanent team across multiple client sites. No two shifts are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, varied security environment.
Key duties & responsibilities
● Conduct regular foot patrols of assigned sites, buildings, and perimeters, and report and document any security concerns or incidents.
● Monitor CCTV systems, identify suspicious activity, and respond appropriately in line with site procedures.
● Manage access control systems, control entry and exit points, and ensure only authorised personnel have access to restricted areas.
● Carry out ID and credential checks in accordance with site-specific requirements.
● Perform mobile patrol duties across multiple sites, providing a visible security deterrent.
● Respond to alarm activations promptly and professionally, assessing the situation and taking appropriate action or liaising with emergency services as required.
● Operate as a door supervisor when required, managing queues, conducting searches, and maintaining a safe environment at licensed premises.
● Handle conflict situations calmly using approved conflict management techniques.
● Write accurate, detailed incident and occurrence reports.
● Liaise with police, emergency services, and site management in the event of an incident.
● Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times as a representative of CSSLTD.
● Assist with evacuation procedures in line with fire safety protocols.
● Provide first aid assistance when required.
Skills & experience required
● Minimum 1 year of experience in a security, door supervision, or guarding role (Desirable, not mandatory)
● Basic working knowledge of CCTV systems and monitoring procedures
● Proven ability to manage conflict professionally and effectively
● Strong verbal and written communication skills for report writing and client interaction
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
● Reliable, punctual, and flexible, able to cover a range of shifts including nights, weekends, and bank holidays
● Right to work in the UK.
● Full UK driving licence to travel to sites. (Desirable, not mandatory)
