I've just come back from where I did my regular chat about Coaching. In the past I have used the analogy of slices of pizza, grids, triangles and more. However this morning it was 'just one word' to identify the goal to the end of the year.

What one word would help you define your goal? Could it be 'happiness', 'contentment', 'supportive', 'healthy'? Once you have found the word then you can develop actions that will help you achieve your one word goal.

Let me know if you would like help to identify the one word that works for you!

If you are wondering what is happening At The Horam Emporium.
The Cuckoo Café Horam is taking shape and the lovely Lauren explains things below.

Excited I now have keys to what will be the café in the new year 😃
Now to decorate and get organised.
In the mean time there will be a coffee/food van parked outside. A great option for people to have something for lunch if passing by until the cafe opens.
People are more than welcome to use the seating outside and watch the world go by or go shopping in the empioriom.
Thank you all
Lauren

The new year has started. Before you delve into the your To Do List it's a great time of year to take half an hour to do a quick business review:

1. Identify your 3 greatest achievements in 2021.
As you identify them, spend a few minutes thinking about the
skills you used and also what you actually did.

2. Identify 3 things that didn't go well in 2021.
Take a few minutes to identify what went wrong and what you
can learn from the experience. It's OK to make a mistake
however it's not so clever to repeat it!

3. Identify the 3 most important things you need to do in 2022!
Are they carried over from 2021 or are they new objectives?
Take a few minutes to think about these objectives and jot down
a few ideas about how you plan to tackle them.

I hope you find these ideas useful and that they help you make 2022 a positive and productive year. If you need help to formulate your ideas for 2022, then why not contact me : [email protected]

England won!

England won through to the European Cup finals.
After years in the football doldrums Gareth Southgate guided his team through to the finals. Throughout the highs and lows of the game they were there for each other and played as a team. Their success will lead to an increased interest in football from a kick about in the garden to joining a local team.

Throughout the horrors of Covid, English scientists have been at the forefront of the development of effective vaccines. As a country we have also been leaders in the rollout of those vaccines. These successes will enable us to live with Covid and be prepared for future pandemics.

We didn’t bring home the cup and we haven’t stopped Covid as yet however we have made great strides towards future success. It is so important to recognize and celebrate success even when the ultimate goal is yet to be achieved.

I have recently lost a lot of weight and celebrate every time I notice my clothes are looser - even though I have a way to go before reaching my goal. I would love to know what achievements you are celebrating as you work towards your ultimate goals?

If you are struggling to create or reach your goals I would love to have a chat to find out how I can help. [email protected]

Where does your success come from?

Does success – in your terms come from your business or your personal life?

If success for you is all about fast cars and exotic holidays then it can be attributed to your business life and what it enables you to do.

However, if success for you is all about family – perhaps the support of a partner and well-being of others then it may be attributed to your personal life.

For others it may be a combination of both – for example the income from a successful career enables the well being of your family.

One of the important steps in achieving success is to know where its foundations are routed and also to have a clear goal of what it will achieve.

If you would like help to set clear goals to achieve success in your life or you would like to book onto my FREE workshop 'What does success mean to you?' email [email protected]

What do accents do for you?

I have a great aunt with a lovely warm Scottish lilt to her voice. Every time I hear this accent on other people it makes me smile and reminds of some lovely memories of time spent with her.

I have far less positive thoughts about a broad Glaswegian accent which I associate with a teacher I had great difficulty with, a long time ago.

My association with these accents runs deep and therefore irrespective of what a person is saying, I have a subconscious like or dislike of the person speaking with these accents. I have to work hard to overcome my bias and listen fairly to what the person is saying.

Regional and international accents reflect the diverse and multicultural world we live in. However it is important to recognise our own bias towards these accents and the impact they can have on our understanding and ability to 'take on board' the content of what is said.

I would love to know what accents you have strong associations with and learn how it affects your reaction to what is being said.

If you would like some help with your communication skills then I wold love to have a chat. [email protected]
