In case you have not heard eleswhere : there may be demonstrations tomorrow in Southampton (and in other parts of the UK).

It’s not clear what time they might start nor whereabouts but there is information in the Daily Echo and via Southampton City Council.

Employers might want to do some further research before making any decisions but I know of one organisation who is sending staff home early.

A Happy Easter to everyone! I hope you enjoy some well deserved time from work if you are able to take a break.

My clients in hope to be busy and I am sure that they will all do good business. Those working in and various other sectors will also be looking forward to getting back to pre-Covid levels of business.

When we return to work there are of course increases to the for all businesses to comply with. There are also increases to statutory pay next month.

ANTI-DEPRESSANTS

As an HR consultant and mental health first aider it is not my role to recommend treatment to anyone regarding any medical condition they have. I can however point them in the right direction if they want to do some research around their options. I would recommend to anyone who is taking anti-depressants or is feeling depressed or anxious and planning to see their GP; to watch the recent BBC Panoroma programme about the subject. Anti-depressants are a good thing and have undoutedly saved many lives - the programme is not suggesting that they are a bad thing. No-one should stop taking them if they have been prescribed them except under their GPs guidance. However there are issues around this medication that you may be interested to learn about especially if you have been taking them for a long time.
It is useful I think for those working as MHFAs to take a look as it may update your thinking. The programme ‘Anti Depressants’ can be watched on I-player.

ANYONE FOR TENNIS?

Well actually I don’t play tennis nor do I know much about it. Every year when Wimbledon comes on TV I have to remind myself how the scoring works - which has always seemed more complicated that it need be. I only possess a tennis ball (pictured)because it goes in the tumble drier to stop padded jackets from going clumpy.

So I am not going to become an overnight expert on the sport (unlike half the population !). Instead I stick to things a know either quite a bit about or more usually, quite a lot about. Well in a professional capacity anyway….
