A recent visit to the Indonesian island of Sulawesi gave opportunity to study some of the strange animals, which occur there and nowhere else in the world (endemic). These included the Spectral Tarsier, which is the smallest primate in the world. It is primarily a nocturnal animal, which spends the daytime sleeping in tree holes, emerging at sunset to hunt insects. It pairs for life and if its mate dies it will not take another. The cutest of animals!

It's not just reptiles that can be found at reptile mats set out for ecological surveys and translocations. This Western Conifer Seedbug was seen basking in sunshine at a site in Cornwall today. This North American species has colonised parts of Europe and occurs as a migrant in the British Isles where it was first recorded in 2007. It's big!
