WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY – SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER

Mental health is something incredibly important to us at Elgar Care, and it’s a cause that is very close to our hearts.

We believe that looking after people goes beyond physical care. It’s about compassion, understanding, listening without judgement and making sure people know they are not alone.

Our commitment to mental health is reflected in the work we do throughout our local community.

💚 Two of our team are proud Herefordshire Mind Ambassadors, helping to raise awareness and encourage conversations around mental health.

🧡 We wear our orange buttons to raise awareness of su***de prevention and help reduce the stigma surrounding su***de. We want people to know that we are here to listen, that they can talk to us without fear of judgement, and that they don’t have to face difficult times alone. Sometimes, simply knowing someone is willing to listen can make all the difference.

💚 Herefordshire Mind is our very important Charity of the Year. We are proud to support the incredible work they do for people across Herefordshire.

💚 We sponsor the Herefordshire Mind room at The Hub of Hope, helping to support a space dedicated to connecting people with mental health support.

💚 We are organising a Charity Ball in aid of Herefordshire Mind at the beautiful Brinsop Court on Friday 11 December 2026. We’re looking forward to bringing our community together for a special evening to raise funds and awareness for this vital cause.

For us, this is about more than fundraising. It’s about helping to break down stigma, encouraging people to speak openly and making sure those who are struggling know that support is available.

As a care provider, we see every day how important kindness, connection and feeling supported can be. Sometimes, simply asking someone how they really are can make all the difference.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s keep talking, keep listening and keep looking out for one another. You never know what someone might be going through behind closed doors.

💜 Domestic Abuse Awareness Month – Elgar Care 💜

On Tuesday, Tracey, Lex, and Lisa took part in important domestic abuse training delivered by West Mercia Women’s Aid, focusing on recognizing domestic abuse and understanding how we can support both our clients and our colleagues.

Domestic abuse can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstances. It isn’t always visible and can take many forms, including physical, emotional, psychological, and financial abuse, as well as coercive and controlling behavior.

As a domiciliary care provider, our team visits people in their own homes and builds trusted relationships with clients. This places us in an important position to recognise when something may not be right, listen without judgement, and raise concerns appropriately.

It is equally important that we recognize domestic abuse can affect our own colleagues. Creating a workplace where people feel safe, supported, and able to speak up is just as vital.

The training reinforced the importance of awareness, professional curiosity, safeguarding, and knowing how to respond sensitively when someone may need help.

A huge thank you to West Mercia Women’s Aid for delivering such valuable training and helping us strengthen our knowledge and confidence.

Last night, we had the absolute honor of being named Business of the Year at the Hereford Community Awards—and what a moment it was!

Winning this award means so much to us, but this achievement is not about one person—it belongs to the whole Elgar Care team.

To our amazing care assistants who go out every single day and make a difference to people’s lives—thank you. You are the heart of Elgar Care. The compassion, kindness, dedication, and care you show to our clients and their families is what makes us who we are.

And to our incredible office team—thank you for everything you do behind the scenes. From organizing care and supporting our carers to speaking with families, solving problems, keeping everything running, and constantly striving to make Elgar Care better—you are absolutely amazing.

This award represents 10 years of hard work, determination, challenges, growth, and, most importantly, people. I could not ask for a better team.

We are incredibly proud of how far Elgar Care has come and so grateful to every single person who has been part of our journey.

Tonight is the Hereford Times Community Awards, and we’re absolutely thrilled that Elgar Care is a finalist for Business of the Year!
We’re already here, dressed up and ready for a fantastic evening celebrating some of the amazing businesses and people across our local community.
Whatever happens tonight, being recognised as a finalist is something to be incredibly proud of. It’s a huge reflection of the hard work, dedication and heart that our whole team puts in every single day — from our office team to every one of our amazing carers.

Today Tracey and Lisa went over to the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce EXPO at university of Worcester arena.

They had a fantastic day visiting all the different stands and speaking to different businesses from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
