Our Leica AT500 laser tracker has been busy continuing the installation of a very sophisticated high volume production line for a customer working with prestigious OEM Vehicles.

This alignment entailed a complicated co-ordinate system to align a series of rollers and rotatary tables accross two floors.

Both upper and lower floors were aligned within 0.2mm.

Very much looking forward to seeing this line complete with the vast levels of automation being installed.

3D Laser Scanning in Automotive.

We have recently been working with an automotive client who customises vehicles for commercial use.

On this occasion the client required the interior of this vehicle scanned to provide the 3D Geometry that demonstrates reality vs CAD.

This helped the client further develop their product to work well with the OEM requirements.

Using our Hexagon Romer arm and PC-Dmis, we were able to create a full surface STL for the client to pull into their CAD system to work with.

We have been busy supporting the installation of a production line with our Leica AT500.

The task - Align all upper and lower floor elements within the same geo-reference system.

The solution - Using bolt in place SMR nest supplied by the customer, create a network grid covering both floors.

Co-ordinate reference grid now setup, next phase to align the lower production equipment with the upper floor equipment once sited.

Looking forward to further work on this project ahead ! We enjoy a challenge !

Our Leica Laser Tracker in action this week supporting the verification of a new NDT inspection system for an Aerospace customer.

Using the tracker we can accurately report out both linear and angular deviations allowing the manufacturer to dial the machine in as accurate as possible following installation.
