Jyotish - Indian astrology

Jyotish - Indian astrology Are you at a cross roads in your life, unsure of your direction? Looking at your birth chart and palms can give an accurate assessment of your life path.

Jyotish is a sanskrit term which literally means Light. It is the study of the Sun, Moon, Stars and Planets and the effect they have on human life. A map of the heavens drawn up at the time of birth indicates the potential we have in areas of life such as career, relationships, health and finances. It is the aim of Jyotish to try and determine the 'unseen' influence of the past in the present and

from this to predict possible outcomes and to put in place more productive strategies. The idea being to ensure that one has a more harmonious relationship with the present in all spheres of one's life. People consult astrologers for many reasons, typically it can be around a specific issue in career or relationship for example, or it may be that they feel a lack of purpose or meaning in the direction they are taking in life.

The Moon represents the mind in astrology. While the Sun represents what is eternal in us, the soul or atma , the Moon mind reflects this inner light and allows us to engage for better or worse with the external world.

A picture of Moon and Venus from the 2nd Jan. If the skies are clear where you are on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week then you should be able to see around 6 in the evening a crescent Moon with Mars and Venus. Should be spectacular. After the Sun and the Moon, Venus is the brightest orb in the sky and in Astrological symbolism there is often something about a person who is born under the influence of the Moon or Venus that draws the eye!

See which planets influence your life and your year ahead, come along to the Jyotish taster day at Cardiff MADE 10 - 4 Thursday 2nd February. To book a slot contact Mike [email protected] 07913 864 744 www.yogaskies.co.uk

New Year New You!

Satisfaction in Life is often determined by our ability to accept with serenity what we cannot change, as well as our ability to meet with courage and strength those things that we can change. Often it can be difficult to know when we should go with the flow and when we should push through. The Indian system emphasises a lunar astrology and gives indications of those periods when the flow of life is more in our favour and those times when it is not. It also suggests more productive strategies to employ at such times in order that our life flows more harmoniously.

Mike Young will be at Cardiff MADE again this Thursday 26th and Thursday 2nd Feb for taster sessions in Indian astrology either half hour £20 or an hour £35. To book a slot contact Mike 07913 864 744 or [email protected] www.yogaskies.co.uk

When it comes to Astrology people often think that Life is fated and that what the Astrologer says is sure to come to pass..Not so. Within Indian Astrology is a whole section on remedies to strengthen positive attributes or to deal with potentially negative outcomes. Some of these can be very specific others are more general and work in a surer but slower manner. For instance a daily commitment to a discipline that brings stability, flexibility and strength to mind and body is worth its weight in proverbial gold.

Disciplines like yoga t'ai chi, meditation, martial arts, to name a few can be the starting point through which someone makes a change for the better in their life. The key being that you have to put the work in, but that whatever you do will have positive results in time.

I am back in Cardiff MADE again on Thursday 8th from 1- 4.30 for anyone who would like to have a half hour(£20)or hour(£35) session exploring life's themes in your chart and ideas around how you can bring stability, strength and flexibility to your life.

It's a lunar eclipse tomorrow. A penumbral eclipse to be exact more info to be found here
http://www.sciencealert.com/the-final-eclipse-for-2016-is-about-to-occur-here-s-how-to-watch

In india eclipses are seen as times that are more auspicious for inner work. Not the times to be starting a new venture. In a chart the luminaries the Sun and the Moon which represent which represent the light of the soul and the light of the mind respectively, are 'eclipsed' by Rahu Ketu. It's a good time to just take it easy and enjoy some peace and quiet. Do some yoga, meditate, study or any kind of inner work.

The final eclipse of 2016 will occur this weekend , and it just so happens to coincide with the harvest moon - something we're not going to see again until 2024.

'All change is loss' is the title of an essay on a Counselling course I did many years ago. Times of change bring uncertainty and while that can be exhilarating it can also provoke fear and anxiety about the future and what it may hold for us.

We may feel overwhelmed by what we feel we have to deal with and at times can see no way forward.

There is always a way forward.

We just need to view our life from another window to get a different perspective on our life.

It is often the case that we tend to undervalue our strengths and talents while at the same time exaggerating our flaws and failings.

If only we could see ourselves as others do.

Astrology is one such tool that can give insight into our strengths and weaknesses, and the direction we are headed in, the likely challenges we may face and the means by which we can reach our goal.

If you are at a crossroads in your life, struggling with an issue or just plain curious then come along to Cardiff Made on Thursday 7th July when I am running half hour taster sessions from 11- 4pm.

Contact me [email protected] 07913 864 744 to book a session. I will need your birth data: date of birth, time of birth and place of birth.

The word for Planet in Sanskrit is Graha. Planet is a word with it's origins in Greek and means 'wanderer' as the five true planets were observed wandering across the sky night after night

Graha on the other hand literally means 'seizer', and brings with it the idea that we can be seized or grasped by a planet and our lives coloured by the energy and symbolism associated with that particular orb.

Whether that 'seizing' will play out in our lives in a beneficial or harmful way depends on many factors which can be read from your chart.

There are still some places available next Thursday 26th May 11-4 at the Jyotish taster day at Cardiff MADE. (see below for the Event) Contact me to book your place!

In Indian Astrology the Sun represents ātma, the soul or spirit. It is 'eternal' ( about 4.6 billion years.. that seems pretty 'eternal' to me.. ) .It is the source of all Life.. The Moon represents the mind because it waxes and wanes just like the mind...some days we can feel passionate about someone or something and other days we can be distinctly 'cool' towards that very same person or thing for no other reason than we just ̍feel' that way.If the Moon is influential in someone's chart then they will often exhibit a changeability in their character. The Sun on the other hand is characterised as Steady.

Are you Mercurial by nature, entertaining your friends with your urbane wit? Perhaps you are a Jovial sort, ready to dispense sage advice? Maybe your Saturnine nature prefers the shadows to those Sunny souls who prefer to be at the centre of it all? Or do you dance with gusto to the beat of a Martial drum, sway more towards sociable but coy, graceful Venus, and who isn't at times intoxicated by bewitching receptive Moon, full or new she(or he) always catches the eye..

There are still some half slots left on the Taster sessions day at Cardiff Made Cafe on the 28th April. Book a space and discover which planet, and the rich symbolism it embodies, is most influential in your life..
