My family are gathered around

Ooooh, the shy, anxious and introverted amongst us really feel this eh?

I remember many years ago in my first foray into attending a networking event to showcase the business I worked for at the time, having this very same reaction!!

I bravely stood up to tell the room about what the business was about and the offer that was available that day, only to be barracked by a more seasoned networker about the worth of the offer on the table.

Embarrassing & Awkward!!! 😱🫣

At the time, being less experienced, I was the one who was feeling the embarrassment and wanting to run a mile and never do this again!!

It was all I could do to stop the tears and bite back! Not one for confrontation, I meekly sat back down, not sure if my message had reached any targets!!!

Fast forward to now, being a seasoned networker I see that the embarrassment and awkwardness actually didn't belong to me and those in the room remembered me more because I didn't react negatively.

Being shy and anxious or an introvert is actually a superpower when the going gets tough! Though it doesn't feel like that at the time!

I have now learnt lots of tools and skills to overcome any situation where I am presenting at networking events which I love sharing with new networking divas and dudes!

🐒 Here is a quick tip for you to practice over the weekend to help start the process to overcome their endless chatter...

💥 GIVE IT A NAME!

By giving it a name you are giving the chatter some objectivity, so the next time the Mind Monkey pops up and starts telling you "I'm not good enough or I don't deserve this"...

💥 Say out loud "Fred/Jim/Sally/Tigger (whatever you call your mind Monkey 🐒) Shut up, I've got this!"

Then get on with whatever you were going to do!

Repeat it as many times as you need to!

🔥 Doing this consistently re-programmes the negative thought process and boosts your confidence!
