In my 25 years of wrangling residential development loans and funding property refurbishments, I thought I’d seen it all… until yesterday.

I visited a site so overgrown, I half expected David Attenborough to pop out and start narrating. The house was playing a solid game of hide-and-seek—camouflaged by a jungle of bushes, trees, and vegetation. And not just in the garden… the greenery had made itself quite at home inside the property too!

The entrance? Through the conservatory—if you could find it. The kitchen? Let’s just say I didn’t dare venture in. You never know what might be lurking… and I wasn’t in the mood to meet any unexpected wildlife before my second coffee.

This project is going to be absolutely fascinating, and I’ll definitely be a regular visitor just to witness the transformation. From wild to wonderful—watch this space!

I’m assuming everyone is on holiday! 🌴

The email inbox is eerily quiet—yes, even the spam has taken a vacation! 🏖️

It’s like a flashback to 2020, but without the endless loop of mediocre films to keep us entertained! 🎬

I'm not going to lie, it's been a bit quiet this month for me! Don't get me wrong, the work/life balance has been just about right!

There's nothing like a McTear Williams & Wood Limited Professionals Network event to end the week on! It was good to see Tony Harrison, Philip Bailey, Chloe Edwards, Sophie Duffy, Terri Christian, Andy Phillips, Wendi Mclean and a pleasure to meet Robin Meynell from MWW's Cambridge office.

I haven't seen Michael Davis for years - good to catch up & hear all is good with you!

The highlight of the event was hearing from Belinda Buxton who gave a short presentation on the Norwich SOS Bus. For those older folks and out of-towners, it’s a yellow bus that can be found in the heart of Norwich's clubland which is manned by volunteers to look after the youngsters who find themselves in difficulty on a Friday & Saturday night!

Not necessarily for those who have had too much to drink! A safe refuge for someone waiting on a taxi, phone out of charge or flip-flops for those who have lost their shoes!

More importantly, they take pressure off the emergency services!

As a parent of a young girl, it gives me comfort that Belinda Buxton and her colleagues are there should Sophie Duffy need a safe refuge!

The point of the SOS Bus presentation was to raise awareness of the service they provide and to help plug a financial hole made by an £80k grant that has been pulled. I for one don't like the idea of this bus disappearing - I doubt the Police & Ambulance services don't want the bus to disappear too!

I remember going to Wilkies of Leven to get my shoes as a youngster. There was that big machine that you put your foot into and it precisely measured the correct size!

My primary school shoes were Start Rite. My mum always said, good shoes when you're young will keep your feet good when you get older!

My 3 kids all had Start Rite shoes; we visited the little shop next to the main Start Rite building in Norwich!

I was only too happy to help broker a deal for the business. There are always challenges and in this case, it was the speed and flexibility that won the day! Probably one of the quickest I've done in a long time!

Got to say - it's a wee bit quiet on new instructions!

I have plenty of time in the diary to help businesses who have some form of Invoice Finance! It's a service that you buy and it just runs accordingly. Renewals come through every year and you sign the docs because you can't be ar5ed looking for a cheaper facility, or one that can provide more funds or both!

In Milton Keynes, the robot delivery service from Starship Technologies launched four years ago and has been broadening across other towns consistently ever since.

As more robots are installed throughout many businesses, it was expected that people would feel replaced and angered. However, it has been reported that not only do civilians embrace the machines, but they also rush to help them!
