Careful crown reduction in Horsley

A recent beech tree crown reduction completed in Horsley, carried out with overhead electrical cables nearby. Due to the proximity of the lines, specialist cable protection (shrouding) was required to allow the work to be completed safely and professionally.

The aim was to reduce the canopy while maintaining the tree’s natural shape and improving long-term management.

These types of trees can hold significant tension and compression forces, making them some of the more hazardous jobs to deal with safely.

Using winching equipment and careful step-by-step dismantling, the damaged timber was safely brought under control within a dense woodland setting.

Always nice working in woodland like this — especially with the wild garlic coming through across the forest floor.
