Many local businesses have blurry, outdated, or stock photos instead of real shots of their products or premises.

Google (and customers) trust businesses with genuine, high-quality photos. Take 15 minutes this week to add some fresh ones.

🔍 SEO Tip #3: A Google Hack!

Did you know you can type a special command directly into Google to see exactly how your website looks to search engines?

Try this right now.

Go to Google and type:

site:yourwebsite.co.uk (replacing yourwebsite.co.uk with your actual domain)

So what does it show you?

Google will list every single page on your website that it has actually found and indexed. These are the pages that can show up in search results.

If you see pages missing that should be there such as your services page, contact page, your about page then Google doesn't know they exist yet!

And if you see pages listed that shouldn't be there like old test pages, duplicate pages, broken old links etc then these can actually be confusing Google and quietly pushing you down the rankings....and that's not good!

Count the results you see.

A healthy small business website might have anywhere from 5 to 50 pages showing. If you've got hundreds showing - or just 1 or 2 - something probably needs looking at!

Also check the descriptions that appear under each result.

That text is what a potential customer sees before they even click your website. Does it actually describe what you do clearly?

It takes 30 seconds and you might be surprised what you find!

🔍 SEO Tip #2 is....your Google Business Profile!

Have you ever Googled a local business and seen that box on the right hand side of the screen with their address, opening hours, photos and reviews?

That's a Google Business Profile and if yours isn't set up correctly, you could be invisible to customers searching for exactly what you offer right now.......

So why does it matter?

When someone searches for a service or product, Google doesn't just look at websites it looks at Business Profiles too!

If yours is incomplete, out of date or missing altogether, Google will show your competitors instead.😔

And the best part? It's completely free.

Here's what you can do right now:

Go to Google and search your own business name.

Does your profile show up? If it does then check that your address, phone number, opening hours and website link are all correct.

If it doesn't show up at all, you need to claim or create your profile at business.google.com and it only takes a few minutes to get setup!

Also check you have at least a couple of photos on there.

Profiles with photos get significantly more clicks than those without. 📸

💡 SEO Tip #1 for UK Business Owners is Broken Links!

Have you ever clicked a link on a website and landed on a page that says "Page Not Found"?

That's a broken link and your website might have a few without you even knowing......

🔴 So why does it matter?

Imagine a potential customer finds your website, clicks on your menu, your services page or your contact details and hits a dead end.

They don't wait around.

They close the tab and find someone else!

And it's not just customers who notice. Google does too.

A website with broken pages sends a signal that your website isn't being looked after and that can quietly push you down the search rankings over time.....

✅ Here's what you can do right now:

Just spend 5 minutes clicking through your own website as if you were a customer seeing it for the first time.

Click every button, every menu link, every image that links somewhere. If anything takes you to a blank page or an error - make a note of it!

Then either fix it yourself (if you built the website) or send the list to whoever manages your website. It's a small job that can make a real difference!
