For business owners, a word of warning about using ChatGPT for your website!

Over the past few months, we’re seeing more and more websites filled with AI-written content, and it may look fine, but dig deeper and it can often causes problems like:

1. Vague messaging that doesn’t clearly explain what you do
2. Content that sounds like everyone else
3. Pages that don’t quite guide users to take action
4. Lower amount of enquiries, even if traffic has improved

AI can be brilliant for speeding things up but if doesn’t understand your customers, your market, or why people actually choose you that can signal a death knell to many websites!

Your website still needs:

✔ Clear and specific messaging
✔ A proper structure that guides users to buying or signing up
✔ Content built around real customer intent
✔ A focus on turning visits into enquiries

Otherwise, you don’t get a “smarter” website you just get a more generic one like many others in your industry!

Use AI as a tool but not as a replacement for thinking because in most cases, it’s not traffic that businesses struggle with, it’s turning that traffic into actual leads.

🌐 Got a website… but it’s not bringing in customers?

You’re not alone.
We speak to lots of UK businesses who say things like:

“Our website looks good but we get hardly any enquiries.”
“We’re not showing up on Google.”
“People visit the site but don’t contact us.”
“Our developer built it… but that’s about it.”

Most websites have a few hidden problems that stop them working properly.

Things like:

🔎 Pages that Google struggles to understand
⚡ Slow loading speeds
🧭 Confusing layouts for visitors
✏️ Missing or poorly written page content
📍 Weak local search visibility

That’s where we help.

We work with businesses to:

✔ Fix on-page issues Google cares about
✔ Improve how clearly your services are explained
✔ Make your site easier for customers to use
✔ Increase your visibility in search results
✔ Turn more visitors into enquiries

Just practical improvements that help your website actually do its job.

Because a website shouldn’t just look good - it should bring you business.

🔎 Your website might look fine. That doesn’t mean it works!

Quick test for UK business owners:

• Are you getting consistent enquiries every month? 📩
• Do you know which keywords you rank for? 📈
• Does your homepage explain what you do in 5 seconds? ⏱️
• Is your site built for users… or just to “exist”? 🤔

If traffic is low → it’s a visibility problem.
If traffic is high but enquiries are low → it’s a UX problem.
If both are low → it’s a strategy problem. ⚠️

Most websites don’t fail because they’re ugly.
They fail because there’s no joined-up SEO + UX strategy behind them.

A website should be a growth engine 🚀
Not just an online brochure.

If your site feels stuck, invisible, or inconsistent it just might be time for a proper audit. 📝

UK businesses deserve better than “it looks nice.” 🇬🇧

We run an SEO consultancy and yes….even we get bombarded with “SEO experts” in our inbox. 😅

Nothing screams “premium SEO agency” quite like:

• A misspelled subject line
• A Hotmail address
• And promising page-one results in a month (this STILL happens!)

If you’re thinking about choosing an SEO partner:

✔ Do they use a professional domain email?
✔ Can they explain strategy without buzzwords?
✔ Do they talk about UX and conversion and not just “rankings”?

Pro tip: Always check the sender’s email address 😉

// Client: "SEO doesn’t work for my business."
// Website status check initiated…

if (website.hasTraffic === false) {
console.log("No one can find you on Google.");
}

if (website.hasTraffic && website.hasLeads === false) {
console.log("People found you… then left.");
}

if (seoAgency.promises === "Page 1 in 30 days") {
throw new Error("🚩 Red flag detected");
}

// Real solution:
function SEO() {
strategy();
userExperience();
clarity();
consistency();
patience();
}

SEO();
// Results: measurable growth (not magic)

SEO isn’t broken.
Bad SEO is.

🤔 Are your customers really finding you on Google?

Just having a website isn't enough. You need to actively help Google connect you with the local people searching for your services.

If you feel invisible online, here are 5 simple things you can do this week to help them find you:

1️⃣ Optimise Your Google Business Profile
This is your most powerful local marketing tool. If you don't have one, set it up today. If you do, make sure it's 100% complete: add services, photos, and your opening hours. It's the first thing many customers will see.

2️⃣ Use Local Keywords on Your Website
Talk about where you are! Mention your town or county (e.g., "Crewkerne," "Somerset") naturally on your homepage, service pages, and in your contact details. This tells Google you're a local business.

3️⃣ Encourage Customer Reviews
Positive reviews on Google are gold. They not only build trust with new customers but also significantly boost your local search ranking. Don't be shy and ask your happy clients to leave a review!

4️⃣ Check Your Site on a Mobile
Over half of all searches are on mobile phones. Take 60 seconds to browse your own website on your phone. Is it easy to read and navigate? Can you find the phone number easily? If not, you could be losing customers.

5️⃣ Keep Your Details Consistent
Make sure your business name, address, and phone number are written exactly the same everywhere online. Consistency builds trust with Google.

Feeling a bit lost with it all? You're not alone! Feel free to get in touch.

Hi - I cant actually believe that its September already - where on earth has this year gone!

Anyway, heres a tip for you.

Did you know that who you link out to on your website can be just as important as who links in to you?

A lot of people worry about backlinks (getting other sites to link to you), but there’s another side most businesses don’t think about:

External links which are the links you add that point to other websites when clicked.

Here’s why they matter:

✅ They show Google your site is connected to trustworthy sources
✅ They give your customers extra value (e.g. linking to a supplier, a helpful guide, or a useful resource)
✅ They build credibility too because you’re not just selling, you’re helping!

For example, if your business sells home décor, linking to a trusted interior design guide can boost how useful your site looks to both visitors and search engines.

Linking out to high-quality, relevant sites makes you look more professional, more trustworthy, and helps with your SEO!

If you’d like me to take a quick look at your site and share where you could add value (with external links or otherwise), just drop me a message.
