This morning sees the last of this year’s GCSE Maths papers and I want to wish all of my lovely students and everyone else sitting the exam today the very best of luck 🍀

I’m so proud of each and every one of my learners and it has been such a pleasure watching you all grow and gain confidence over the past few months. I hope the summer’s results reflect all the hard work and determination you’ve all shown, but the knowledge you all have of how hard you’ve worked and how far you’ve come is by far the most important 😊
Thank you all for the gifts of flowers and chocolates these past few days. They’re really appreciated, but really not expected as the best present I receive is seeing you all reach this exam season with so much more confidence in your knowledge and ability 🌟

Is your child moving in to Year 10 or Year 11 in September? Are they looking to boost their confidence and improve their grade in maths?

Or is your child going into Year 6 and wanting to develop their maths confidence before SATs and the move to secondary school?

I tutor all stages of maths, from those wanting to achieve the higher GSCE grades to those learning their times tables, and currently have some availability as this years’ GCSE students are completing their exams. Small group and limited 1:1 spaces available for either immediate or September start. All sessions are planned for the individuals and are run face to face as opposed to online.

“I felt so much more confident this time round. Our sessions have really helped!”

“I made sure I wrote all my working clearly so that I hopefully didn’t lose any of the method marks.”

“I could even attempt to answer the long, wordy questions now. I broke them down like we’ve discussed.”

“I actually like maths now!”

These are just some of the comments made by my students in their sessions following sitting their first GCSE papers last week and it’s made me so happy to see the increased confidence in every one of them since we first began our tutoring sessions 😊

If you have a child in year 10 due to sit their GCSE exams in 2027 and would like to help them increase their confidence, improve their chance of achieving a pass or strive to reach the highest grades then please get in touch. I have limited spaces available for either a June or September start.

This week saw the last of the current run of our Home Ed Maths Clubs and lots of great discussion and exploration happened in the session.

🌳We began by exploring how many different ways we could find to join 6 magnetic square tiles together and then experimented to see which ones would work as the net of a cube.

🌳We then moved on to solving the ‘cross the river’ problem which resulted in lots of mathematical discussion, alongside some very elaborate storytelling and works-of-art to illustrate their solutions!

I love providing children with opportunities to explore maths through a variety of practical activities and to use mathematical thinking to solve problems 🌟

This little learner was very helpful today, when we discovered I’d run out of blu-tac he confidently used his phonic knowledge to write me a reminder on my board 🌟

We’ve recapped lots of different areas of maths in my Year 6 sessions this week ahead of next week’s SATs, but without a past paper or worksheet in sight! I’m so delighted that my learners are staying with me to support their transitions into Year 7 and beyond too 😊

Good luck to all those out there taking SATs next week. Just give it your personal best and that’s all anyone can ever ask of you 🌟
