Cllr Chris Brant, Cropredy & Hook Norton
Could you help us out?
For the past 5 years, we've run a recycling scheme in Hook Norton. We have a set of bins (outside the Library, but not involved with them). People can deposit lots of different sorts of things into these bins, and we organise getting them recycled.
One of the most popular types of thing we collect are pill packets. We get a large black bag full every couple of weeks.
Initially we used to send these off to Terracycle for recycling, but sadly they've stopped the free program. For the past year or so we've been taking them to Boots in Chippy who have kindly recycled them for us. But now, Boots have said that the volume of pill packets we are producing is too large for them to cope with.
So, what's going to happen now? Either we have to find someone else to handle these packets, or we'll have to close these bins, and everything will end up in landfill.
BUT... Banbury, Bicester, and Kidlington libraries have a pill packet recycling scheme.
Is there any chance we could somehow get involved with this scheme, please? We'd be happy to either work with Hook Norton Library on this, or to handle the collection/dispatch of pills ourselves.
The scheme has been a great success - please help it continue!
