GHD Hair Straighteners repaired today, a new thermal fuse fitted. Makes a change from vacuums. I’m now certified to undertake “Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment” (commonly still known as PAT Testing) so I test all items before they are returned.

Have you got a repairing skill you would like to share?
The new Horley Repair Cafe @ St Wilfs is due to start in January. Volunteers needed for electrical, mechanical, sewing/clothing, computer, IT repairs. etc. Also non repairing volunteers to assist with the event on the day. Once a month, second Saturday of the month.

A poorly Vax with no suction. Soon found the cause, a blocked hose, but why? A broken toothbrush the culprit stuck in the hose.

A Dyson V6 dismantled and cleaned. Once reassembled it worked like new.

A few recent jobs, Dyson DC41 with a gasket breaking up blocking the cyclone, a non working Vax, traced the fault to a broken wire, repaired and working again and a suspect Miele circuit board. All good fun.

A Vax vacuum that wasn’t picking up well. Needed a good clean. Some before and after photos. As good as new now.

A busy few days. A new logo designed, a Krups coffee maker needing a good descale and a Rug Doctor stripped down awaiting a new part.

A Shark vacuum in for a service and the brush wasn’t rotating. The issue was discovered in the wand where a wire had broken. A repair wasn’t practical but managed to source a secondhand replacement wand. All working well again now and at a fraction of the price of a new machine.

A Dyson in for a service and repair. Wasn’t picking up very well, I dismantled the cyclone part to find the gasket breaking up and causing blockages. New gasket fitted, a deep clean and new filter, all working like new now.
